G29 + Shifter?
So, i just bought this logitech G29 and the wheel itself works wonder, but i find the sequencial and or the automatic shifting boring. considering its shifter only has 6 positions + reverse, is there however anyway to use it, like skipping every other gear? while this is not optimal, i think its doable to use it if it was possible if i could somehow shift 2/4/6/8/10/12

You assign a button for the "splitter" so you have low and high range gears to be able shifter higher than 6 gears.

There is no need for assigning buttons.
In the options you have to set shifter behaviour to either splitter or range (forgot which one was it) and then you can shift as Captein here wants. You can also change between 2,4,6,8,10,12 and 1,3,5,7,9,11 but I have been playing with skrs shifter for a long time so I also forgot that :D

Thx for the replies, but seems like both options are good, I didnt knew about this splitter thing, but it kinda reminds me of my summer car sewer truck high/low range gear modes, considering that truck only have 6 gears with a range changer, while empty i could just go about with high, but loaded with.. uh... sewage, i had to go for the low range most of the time, so i guess ill check this splitter option, i had no idea what that was, but im thinking that it could be useful if im carrying a heavy load and could use every single gear from 1 to 12. speaking of which, all trucks have 12 gears/forward speeds in ETS2? more than 12 i dont know how i could gear up anymore :steamfacepalm:

whats a skrs shifter?

It is a shifter knob like in real trucks. It has range and splitter buttons on it.
I am using this one:

oh that looks interesting, I dont understand much about trucking, so the gear positions doesnt look much like the |-|-| pattern of a normal vehicle, to me at least.

Yeah, it is a bit different than a car shifting pattern but it is very simple once you get used to it.

Maybe this will help you to understand it better

I sure gave me an idea, but some doubts still remain if you could help me with that, for instance, back then when just using the sequential transmission, i had no idea whatsoever there was a range or splitter, so on an empty f16 i'd just start off at 3rd gear and skip one each shift until max gear, because the truck felt light enough to just skip every other gear. Now with some load, i'd go thru all of them or skip one or another depending on my speed.

using the splitter as the guide says, i'd have to start moving using the 1st gear slightly, press the clutch and use the splitter so it enter in 1st gear high, then go to 2low, 2high, and so on, lots to learn and get used to i guess, but thats really needed? i mean, i think the range swaps the gear positions, im guessing that on my shifter, the gear 1 positions would then become 6 and so on until 6th becomes 12... i wonder how these come to play in ETS2, if they have a real purpose or they're just for fun like the retarder, i mean, i know whats the use for a retarder in a real truck, but in ETS it seems that its needless since brakes dont overheat or wear.

Yeah, on regular g29 shifter your 1st gear becomes 7th gear after you pres s the button for range change.
The skrs is usually 3 over 3 gears and you can split each one of them which gives you a total of 12 gears. 14 if you use crawler gears ( scania 12+2 for example).
And you dont have to split every gear (you can never do it if you want to). I never split the first 3 gears but If I am hauling very heavy load then I sometimes have to do it. I start splitting the upper range of gears (when I get to 4th gear)

I used to enjoy using range splitter on my g27 h-shifter with 2 buttons on the shifter assigned for each but stopping and starting in ets2 is a pain so i use semi-auto in Ets2 and use the range and splitter in Ats now
