SKRS Shifter
So I was planning to buy an SKRS shifter from CSIO Technologies, it looks pretty promising and the reviews are pretty darn good. However I'm not sure if it is compatible with ETS2 at all, it is compatible with ATS for sure though. Mainly because none of the trucks in ETS2 have 10, 13 or 18 speed transmissions. Im not sure whether the game realises that you do have an 18 speed shifter and puts 18 speed transmissions in the shops or not, but it seems like it wouldnt really happen. There must be someone out there with an SKRS that has tried it on ETS2, if that person is you please let me know if it works or not, Thanks in advance!

It is compatible with ETS2, I don't own one though. All ye do is literally take off the ball on a G27 gear stick and put the SKRS one on it - screw it in, set it up, done. Personally I don't see the need for taking it that far as the G27 literally does the exact same thing just not in the same way but eh.. whatever floats people's boats.

I assume it probably works identically to how a G27 works in ETS2 so no need to worry about EU HGVs not having 18 speeds.

What you need to do is copy the Eaton fuller transmission files from ATS to your ETS profile. That way if you opt for a modded truck with an 18 speed trans you will get the same shift pattern as ATS or the real thing.

Well where do i get the ATS files? I havent bought ATS
It doesn't matter which shift pattern you need. All SKRS does is provides a couple of switches, to which you assign range selection and splitter. Just tick the box for "use switch mode" in the game.

So, the SKRS itself is compatible with both ATS and ETS just fine. The only difference compared to not having SKRS is that instead of pushing puttons for range and splitter you use realistic switches on the knob.

But there is a little trick with ETS 2. Vanilla game has only automatic transmission. You sure can select manual in options, but the in-game transmissions on the trucks are automatic, you just change the way you control it. It may be fine for some — in that case just select "Volvo 12-speed", "Scania 12-speed" or the other option depending on what truck you are driving. You will then have a somewhat realistic pattern without crawler gears. But if you want to drive in a realistic way, you should use a mod that adds real transmission (both manual and automatic). And if you want to drive with manual one, you have to create your own custom shifting patterns.

I found that using a pattern from ATS as a base is very convenient (just copy the relevant files, even from demo, they are in your profile folder in documents), because those files even support gear naming e.t.c. Just take it and edit in a way that matches your chosen transmission, but you must cover all possible positions and switch combinations on your stick (it doesn't matter if you have SKRS or not for this), otherwise it won't work. There are some guides on how to create custom patterns. When you have the custom file ready, put it into your profile folder of ETS2 in documents and overwrite the default one. Depending on how you call the file (gearbox_splitter, gearbox_range, gearbox_range_splitter) your custom file will replace default Volvo, Scania or ZF transmission in options. So you can have up to 3 custom patterns at any given time.

As for SKRS itself, note that if you get a unit with easy-jack, you will only be able to normally hold the knob from the top, because easy-jack's sleeve is too wide to fit into hand... I've recently got mine and regret getting it with the easy-jack option. I even considered selling this and purchasing a different simple one from CSIO.

Stormmaster meant to say Easy Jake. This is an add on option for the SKRS which adds a switch to toggle the engine brake function (known as the 'jake brake'). North American trucks typically use an engine brake system while Euro trucks typically use a transmission brake known as a retarder.

Also, from my reading, I understand that Euro trucks are almost all automatics (or automated) versus North America where manuals are still common - but moving towards autos, particularly in fleet trucks. So, you could argue from a 'realism' perspective that in ETS2 you should be using an automatic. And frankly, there are times not slogging through gears is kinda of nice.

I have an SKRS (about 9 months of ownership). For ATS, I use a manual transmission. For ETS2 I use automatic. I did not get the Easy Jake (1. came out after I placed my order and, 2. did not want to mess up my delivery). I have the game options set to automatically engage the jake as soon as I lift off the accelerator (when the jake is toggled on) and I prefer it that way.

There is also a thing called ALMAR SKRS, some guy in Poland makes these from real truck shifters. There are Scania, MAN and Volvo shifters at least. Not sure if these are legit though, there is a video of him using one

i dont know, i think that the G27 is enough and after all, most modern trucks have Auto transmission so it would be unrealistic to get an skrs shifter unless you play with american trucks or older trucks like the Kamaz. As i said i decided to review the things i could buy and the new desk was certainly worth it... The old one was humid at one point and dried up arched downwards + it barely had space for a mouse, a G27, a keyboard and a pc to sit on. Now i have quadruple the space and i can even do other work on it since its a L desk. Thanks for the advice though :)

I know this is an old post, but I am currently in the process of spreading the word about CSIO. They are not doing business any longer, but they ARE happy to take your money. I ordered my shifter MONTHS ago and he refuses to answer emails, or any correspondence from me. He ignores all support tickets. I am not alone in this. Currently there are 11 published complaints on the BBB web site, and i am about to be the 12th.

What's worse is that he HAS received my queries, and I have proof that he HAS read them. He just chooses not to reply. yet when I disputed the charge so I could get my money back, he somehow convinced the bank that I am getting my product and my bank declined the charge-back. I am appealing this directly with the bank, as they said that providing screenshots of the BBB complaints, as well as linking them my YouTube videos where I have other viewers who are ALSO having the same issue, should grant my charge-back and successfully get my money back.

At the same time, my viewers did point out a competitor, called the "Mega Shifter". http://www.techaffliction.com/index.php?route=common/home THIS guy is apparently active, does talk to his customers, and is currently shipping shifters out 10 days after order. As soon as I get my money back, I am going to this guy.

CSIO has also decided that there will be NO support for any of his shifters, but the guy at Mega knows about this and has offered repair for any CSIO products as well, since they apparently use the same technologies.

If you guys want a shifter go with Mega. Yes, this is an old post I am necroing, but it is on the first page of Google when searching CSIO related stuff, so it is important to get this important, FACTUAL information out there. I will never see a voluntary refund or a shifter from CSIO. It will be up to the bank to make this right.

Yeah i kinda forgot about this post, i just kept with the 6 speed stock shifter.
Faelandaea 16 Sep 2017 @ 8:35pm
Good plan, because after I made this post my bank reported that this CSIO guy provided some "proof" that the charge was good. So I am out 150 bucks and CSIO never has, and never will, send me a shifter. If he intended to, he would have answered my support tickets accordingly.

What scumbags... And what i kinda dislike is the fact that Squirrel made a video on the SKRS, and he is pretty popular so people are still seeing that video and are maybe unaware about this scam.
