don't like the new mechanic
focus mode mech just makes the gameplay complicated. i didn't like the clutch claw mech implemented in iceborne either. prefer simplified gameplay like MHW

lol it’s just an aiming tool

It’s light years better than the clunk claw
it is simplified, its just a aiming mechanic, you press and hold said button and hit the red thing, and there no reason not to use it added damage, easy stuns, no more missing hits because you didn't quite aim your screen in the right direction
Focus mode...complicated? What? It's just aiming at wounds...
it's not complicated but it's terrible, looking your character spinning 360 while attacking is just so weird

It's infinitely better than clutch claw, probably the worst gimmick in the series, because you're not wasting time slowly grabbing into the monster and doing the slowest attack animations that ever existed. But the real problem is that the reward for doing so come afterwards (weakened zone), so you pretty much have to do it again, but this time launch the monster into a wall and then you can actually do damage.

The entire game is about using focus mode. If you don't you will enjoy it or want to try something new, which every monster hunter game does, then maybe monster hunter isn't for you?

The more complicated, the better; because the more neural activity, the more blood flow to the brain.

Having said that, brain-dead gameplay options should. indeed, be present; just as "Modern" / "Dynamic" controls in Slime Slider 6-Jabs-Per-Combo Edition. So, all the "complexity" should be optional, in the same was as players should be able to filter all those availing such crutches.

what? just because i didn't like the new mech the game is not for me? i have been playing monster hunter series since the first game they released silly :cocochan2:
Based on what the others are saying, it seems like its a way to tenderize monsters but with bigger damage. Wound opens up, Use focus to damage the wound, monster part gets tenderised.
its not complicated at all and unlike CC entirely ignorable, wounds are opened and destroyed automatically and still take extra damage with your normal weapon attacks same as part breaks, all the highlights and unique moves are only done when you press the button to do so

Play Shotgun HBG, you'll hit everything no matter what.

Focus mode locks longswords strafing and side slash dodge behind the focus mode , and you can't plant your feet anymore to attack so your aim is just up to the whims of chance whether the monster moves or you both move at the wrong time ... focus mode has taken all the skill and finesse monster hunter is built upon and I hate it
