The entire game is about using focus mode. If you don't you will enjoy it or want to try something new, which every monster hunter game does, then maybe monster hunter isn't for you?
Having said that, brain-dead gameplay options should. indeed, be present; just as "Modern" / "Dynamic" controls in Slime Slider 6-Jabs-Per-Combo Edition. So, all the "complexity" should be optional, in the same was as players should be able to filter all those availing such crutches.
