Iceshard Cliffs might be the worst map in the history of the series
It genuinely feels like the place was an afterthought. The areas in this map are all so ridiculously small that the main star apex of it had to have his own separate map, which is arguably designed better. To make it even worse it's the only map other than the arena where gore magala can even spawn, so half of your fight with him with be against the camera. To make matters worse the general diversity of the map is awful, you will fight Blagonga, Hirabami, Nercylla, and Gypceros. That's it. Hopefully a future title update fixes the area because it's such an awful step down from the Hoarfrost Reach of Iceborne

It's like a vertical cavern. Weird design.

I understand the narrative point of the area but the actual execution of it was just a nightmare. It actually feels worse than if they actually just made it a big empty snowfield
It could use more space but it doesn't bug me too much? It's okay for most of the roster you fight there being smaller monsters like Hirabami and Blangonga/Nerscylla. It really only causes issues when fighting gore Magala so the scale of the zones only effects maybe 1/6ths of the roster there.

If they go adding flying wyverns to this place it would be a whole different story.

(also you've not experienced the underwater maps have you?)

Deserted island and flooded forest were both amazing maps by themselves but I really just think underwater combat was a gimmick

The main problem I have is that there's not much ROOM for anything cool to be added. You can't fit an akantor you can't fit a gammoth you could probably hardly fit a barroth. Even smaller monsters like khezu/Gigginox don't have enough "cave" for it

Its redeeming quality is the battle theme which I think is top 1 or 2 when it comes to the zones but the location itself does indeed feel half-assed.

Magala being placed there doesn't do it any favors, frankly speaking it doesn't for the monster either. It's a shame because in Rise the fight was solid. In this game it's ok at best when fought solo since you can control its positioning, but in a chaotic multi-player environment it's beyond ass.

Wrong. Ancient Forest from Worlds is the worst map in the entire series.

Ancient Forest was cramped at times but it was pleasant to look at and you still had more than enough room to fight anything that spawned there like

The theme is absolutely amazing but it just feels a little silly when it's reaching the crescendo and then you realize you're fighting a Gypceros
Well, cliffs has the cliff monster can fall down to which is pretty cool. That surely enhances the map. But yeah it's a bit tight.
