Or you use wide swings attacks whit larger weapons.
Poison smoke bombs. Just gather them up into a pile and drop it. Keeps the corpses around too for carving. Made from toadstool and smokenuts I believe.

This also doesn't destroy flying insect bodies.

But if you're farming/side-questing, then you probably have Entomologist equipped anyways.

@OP: I use a greatsword. In LR, the wide swing combo kills the group; in HR with everything sitting on bloated HP, one charged slash can usually take out one or two group members.

Geologist (more bones, more ores, and more certain collectibles), Botany (more from plants and bugs), Entomologist (prevents bug enemies from splattering), and Outdoorsman (makes whopper fishing slightly easier).

You can also wait for the NPCs to offer you a Carver (more carving rewards) or Gatherer (more everything) meal effect.

Some of the basic B armor sets (chainmail, leather, etc.) have the farming skills equipped by default, so you'd just need to slot in gems for the missing skills. With everything together, one run around the Scarlet Forest circuit can get you a lot of supplies, trading items, and shop fodder.

talking about all this. Do you know where you can see the effects of the meal skills?

Like, the village meals give you like 3-4 buffs, but no idea what any of them do or where I can see it.

I know the meals I cook myself I can check the skills before I coock them.

Not as far I'm aware! CAPCOM's UI (lack of) design strikes again!

You can see what's attached to an NPC offered meal, but it doesn't tell you what any of it does until it activates or you manually look it up. Also, I've noticed that sometimes I get random bonus meal skills from self-made meals. What a perfect system, right?
