Crown hunting has never been easier.
The binoculars will tell you if a monster has a crown size, and if you do not feel like fighting it, just save it for later as a investigation.

Thank GOD. Crown hunting was so dumb in World.
So they added an actual use for binoculars, good. Onwards to the next thread.
Yeees you even get an achievement for it if you look at a golden crown monster! Makes me wanna find them all once I beat the High rank story. :D
crown hunting has always like this u go target guess it big/ small enough for crown then left if it isnt crown... the binocular straight remove the guessing game

which is a good thing cuz now we dont have to waste 15 minutes on a doshaguma while we're out here with full arkveld armor
yep, might be easier to see the crown but if your gonna do the achievements - recruit friends / discord hunters.

maybe 3% chance of monstie spawning as a gold crown and even less for a mini crown.

even with the save scumming tricks where your just reloading the game over and over you still have to wait 2-3 mins for the monster to spawn. thats dozens of hours of just reloading your game and waiting for a spawn.

or you can save scum the arena... i tried to get one gold crown to spawn yesterday to test it, took 56 reloads to get the gold crown spawn. I cant imagine how many more it would take for the mini to spawn too. (probably 150+ on average for both crowns per monster)

No save scumming necessary. Depending on the monster you need, just try to rest in your tent at the right place with the right settings. For instance, Uth Duna with a mini crown was my second last creature needed. Rested in Scarlet Forest, in an inclemency environment (any time) until I got it. Stopping to go to windward plains every so often when Nata was full and the support ship arrived (so I could get for commission tickets). Uth Duna spawns every time in that environment. So even when I didn't find him, I was getting plenty of max potion ingredients out of the crown farming.

Final creature I was missing was a Gravios mini. I found he showed up best at fallow evening in oil basin. So that is what I settled for as my resting option.

They are more common. Looking at people's Guild Cards, they have Gold crown with 20 monsters hunted. Unlike previous games where 100+ monsters hunted with just a silver.

I actually feel motivated to complete the crown hunt this go round.

Yep. Not just crown hunting but also the free roaming, especially when you look for crowns in a party.
Which is a good thing though

My story about my last gold crown in World.
So it was Kushala Daora, had a full anti-kushala greatsword set to get the fight done quicker.
Saw a video how to tell if it's big enough, by checking the lines of its scales against your character height while it's resting.
Spam investigations, countless missions were abandoned for being too small (likely 200+)

But for the actual potential large gold crowns? The ones with the scale line above my character's head? I killed over 140 silver crowns that I all thought were golds, before finally finding a gold that was basically the same size.

Now in wilds you just check with binoculars and reset the map 50 times until it rolls good.
