Smash the face in during hunts to break it, pop wounds for free carves and then cap for the extra bonus still. If you're TARGET farming one specific drop then MAYBE carving is better, but overall it's better to break parts, smash wounds for the free carves and then cap to maxamize your loot. Best way to do it is to group with an LBG who can pop wounds almost as soon as they happen.

From the in-game book jesus christ. Even Gore Magala Ripclaws as another example. Those kinds of parts are only from carves or quest rewards.
I think you're missing my point. Killing the monster is not the "only" way to get the part.

Learn to break wounds.

Target farming is the absolute dumbest use of time you could do in this game. Unless you have built every weapon and armour that uses all the parts of the monster your hunting except one specific bit, it's the least efficient way to farm.

Hell there is even an NPC where you can trade those excess parts in, so you're not even wasting time if you DO need one specific part.

THe loot tables are public-ish, Giant beaks can be obtained by part breaking but also by carving ONLY, captures do not net such, in fact it's rather common for certain tail parts to not drop on capture.

It's how you can acquire 3 tails from Arkveld as an example but will only be able to get 1 by capture.
According to the Hunter Guide, Gore Feelers can only be obtained through carves. but I have absolutely gotten them through capping.

cause you can get all drops as quest rewards. Do you remember Gore Feelers popping into the right of the screen during the moment of capture?

Yes but you cut the tail in the hunt, then cap to maximise your _overall_ loot. If yo don't get the tail, you re-run so you get even more parts of the monster. Like I said, unless your target farming ONE specific bit of a monster, it's more efficient to break everything you can and then capture over a given period of time, especially if you're in a group of other players who might need more parts of that monster than you. If you don't get it from breaks and the free carves from popping wounds, then that's just bad RNG. If you're target farming a specific part, go in with friends who know what you're doing or set your SOS to NPCs only.

If you go public and it's a monster I've not farmed, I WILL trap it after breaking as much of it as I can unless you tell me right away you want a specific part of it, and even then I'll try and wound that part and then break it before I kill.
This does not change the fact we can get more tails by killing than capturing.

I'm not sure that's really a fact. Capcom has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up so much in Wilds that I won't sign anything until I see the data mine of capture rewards.

Gore Feelers are only aquired by breaking and carving according to the hunter guide but people get them as target rewards. And if they are in the target rewards, they are most likely in the capture rewards too.

Considering I've seen two Gore tails pop up in quest rewards one time. I don't think they're as important or rare as you think they are.

The quest reward pool is not the same as capture reward pool and carve reward pool. Understand that. All available drops are part of quest rewards regardless if you actually broke them or not in Wilds. I've gotten Gore Feelers as quest rewards without breaking his head but I have never gotten Gore Feelers in the capture rewards when he is captured. The 3 drops on the right screen are the capture rewards. The quest rewards are the send to item box screen. You get your capture rewards immediately at the moment of capture not at the mission reward screen.

The thing is that the game doesn't tell you about the capture reward pool. It only tells you about break, carve and target pools. The game also tells you that Feelers are only in the break and carve pool.

No offense, but your anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much. So yeah, until there is a proper data mine, your claim is just a claim. There is nothing more to understand.

Giant beaks are. As are other rewards, not speaking of Gore.

For farming (non specific Materials), Capture is better, Period.

If you need Materials, that WON'T drop on capture, Kill is better.
Technically everyone’s wrong. You get more mats by wound breaking over and over again
