It's actually been bad since World,DD2 like they're using the same facial expressions between male and female characters.
I created a female character who looked pretty, but in the cooking cutscene, she smiled like Hannibal Lecter. It looked more creepy than pretty.
Honestly, I think the stupid expressions adds to the charm of Monster Hunter.
Almost sad we're losing the stupid shield face. Monster Hunter has always had something of a balance between silly and serious. Some games pushed it further into the goofy side, this one is a little more serious like the first two gens but it's still Monster Hunter at the end of the day.
Since they seemingly have two types of expressions already in the game(the ones in character creator and ingame) they might as well add a toggle(or slider) at the end of the character creator where you choose how extreme you want your expressions to be. That way you could choose whether you want a more goofy look or more down to earth
It's an Asian game developer.
"Over-the-top" (acting phrase meaning you went too far) doesn't apparently translate to their language. That's just kind of their thing and for some reason people like it.
For me it's truly cringeworthy.
Didn't have time to watch it, but just checked, that's good to hear
Not sure if this made it to release, but blocking in the beta gave you a super scowl.
