I got fairly close, as I got the skull icon on him... but the timer would always run out before I could finish the job.
Also, I saw him have a turf war against Rey Dau. It was fun to watch that, Rey obviously got bodied... But he did get a few hits in.
Second time idk what happened but my attack went from doing 4 DMG from to like 500 DMG from an open wound attack. I really want to replicate that cause we beat him in 8 minutes.
He's a fair fight, and I LOVE how he mixes it up after he tries to wing strike you. He'll either whip 1 side, whip both sides alternatively, go for the 4 whips down the middle (which typically kills you outright if you're not maxed), or rush you. I've seen him go for 3 alternative whips, and that one really got me.
Overall I'd say in proper gear for a casual player he'll be a pretty decent challenge but not quite as much of a wall as Magnamalo was for first time players
There's a bug with certain weapons' wound attacks (I know Charge Blade and Gunlance at least) where hitting a wound at the same time as another player can do this. Team Darkside put up a sub-2 minute kill today where it happened.
I personally had fun improving my time for a while and learning how to i-frame roll all his moves reliably. He's very telegraphed and thus extremely fair. I got my solo charge blade time down to 12 minutes and change (capture, no rocks), which isn't exactly impressive, but it's a far cry from barely capturing in the last seconds or timing out like I did initially.
Don't let it get you down, always keep in mind that the flagship fight in the beta is basically fighting a 5-star monster with equipment you start the game with. It'll be a lot more forgiving when you're wearing armor and using weapons that are actually good
