Rise was hands down better than Worlds
Not having any variation was just sad, cant do 300 hours of the same variation of combo's and say the games good when Rise gives you dozes of wirebug and switch skills to play around with for every weapon

Wilds might end up being the same thing where all it has going for it is a gimmick like weak points, im not going to play for more than 100 hours if thats all the game has to offer

I played rise. Maybe 50-60 hours, dont know so really. And rise was really, really, bad compared to World. World is Champions League, rise isnt even Europe League...
i liked rises combat better but thats it the game as a whole was very rough because its a switch game and the hardware was holding it back

I liked the wirebugs as a traversal tool, but wasn't a fan of its implementation for combat. Overall couldn't get into Rise/Sunbreak.

That said, if the monster roster is what bothered you most about World it seems like they're trying to make things more varied in Wilds so hopefully it won't just become wyvern/elder dragon hunter like World was.

I think world was better than rise but sunbreak is far above iceborne. Clutch claw completely ruined the entire flow of the games combat. I'm with you about being a bit worried about Wilds gimmick. IDER what its called but it's already been shown to favor some weapons over others, much like the clutch claw did. If they insist on having mechanics like the claw or silkbinds be important for the combat they need to be fun to use while having a niche for every weapon instead of it feeling tacked on, as well as something that doesn't feel tedious, which launching a monster into a wall or having to weaken spots on the monster just to get proper damage on it every minute gets old fast.

Rise:

Tower defense (Rampages)
Wirebug (no skill movement ability)
Weebee anime (Dual Blades manifested into an entire game!)
Terrible music

It's no wonder World had 10x the playerbase AFTER Rise was released. People couldn't stand Rise!
Worlds was hands down better than Rise
Worlds is a million times better than rise just for the lack of Rampages alone
Couldnt stand World and looks like I wont be playing Wilds either. Not every game needs to have an open world time sink. I absolutely despised the open world aspect of MH:W. Pair that with absolute dog water controls and it is a big nope. Tried the beta for Wilds and it was so cringe worthy

it was more because of the back to world campaign. they were pretty even before that.

im with u, sunbreak combat was peak, every weapon feels great even the slowest ones but.. sunbreak was all about fun and fluid combat but world and wilds are more about realistic and cinematics fights, judging by what is already shown about wilds with the clash, the ofsets, the wounds, the vulnerable moments of monsters, the mounting, all the environmental traps, weather changes, turf wars and the pods, theres a lot of gimmiks already, to much for my taste.

These have me worried because theres already so many ways to approach a fight with all the gimmiks mentioned above that the weapons themselfs are going to get left behind ,all these gimmiks point to a more strategic combat but in a game that u are going to fight the same monsters many times the gimmiks would become old fast.

On the other hand, the fights are so different one from another and the addition of weapon swap and more fluid weapon would make for the lack of switch skills and silk bind moves.

I think that if capcom polish the weapons to feel more fluid and with better rythm we might not need switch skills to have a good hunt.

No one cares because they rather play world.
I have a feeling people who play Rise arent going to enjoy WILDS. its pretty much the same as World as its a direct sequel. are they gonna wait for another spin off handheld game? (not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on Rise playerbase, but i've noticed a trend. World players are no different).
I'd disagree, you're of course welcome to your opinion.

I found Rise too gimmicky, too fast and just a bit too much OTT for my liking.

And that's fine, the portable games are meant to be more laid back and "fun".

I just prefer the slower, more serious gameplay of World and Wilds.

The moment someone mentions player counts it undermines anything they just said. The steam version has region locking, which resulted in most people choosing the Switch version over PC. Many people who double dipped decided to go back to the switch for online.
This caused the player count to drop, creating a feedback loop. Then when mixed with the return to World campaign, no duh Wold has a higher player count on steam.
