Hunting Horn players, plz explain your doots.
Am I suppose to stand in the glowy light? Am I not? Do I need to stand near you to get buffs? What exactly are you buffing?

I think players would appreciate Hunting Horn players even more if they actually knew what was going on...

If you are both fighting the same monster you are in range for the buffs. There are a lot of buffs spanning from healing to weapon sharpness. but I think most people play Attack up L or healing from what i've seen of other hunting horns.
not necessary but it will give you certain buffs and the bubbles act as damages when hh press the R2/RT. you dont need to stand near hh user just to get the buffs from the sheet. what kind of buff hh spread is depending on their weapon. my fav is:-
- rathian with a lot heals and ATK L with special sheet give AOE heals as mega potion.
- 2nd which is the gore magala; gives heals and Ear Plug L, also give special sheet AOE heals as mega potion.
- my fav dps hh is the g arkveld; gives ATK L, restore Sharpness and prolonged the buffs with special sheet high dmg per hit on monster.
Oh wow, they can even give Earplugs skill? See I had no idea...this is good info.
see red spot on ground stand there... more affinity and if its the conga doot then you get attack up L for reference might seed demon powder and mega demon drug still falls short of attack up L so big dips increase
There are song buffs and echo bubble buffs (glowy light)
You get pop ups of the effects when you enter inside the bubbles on the bottom right side. Bubble buffs go away when you step out of them after a few seconds.

There are pop ups for song buffs too. (No need to stand next to the user for those)
The icons from the buffs show up above your HP bar.
If you want to know what the icons mean or what songs are available for dooters look at the HH weapon guide in game. There is a long list there.

My advice: play it yourself. That way you get the idea. A good Monster Hunter uses every weapon anyroads.

a) you do not need to stand next to a Hunting Horn Hunter (HHH) to receive buffs - the sound has a wide range

b) buffs are collected by combos, so if you see a HHH makes attacks into the air, that is probably them collecting tunes for combos

c) the echo bubbles - glowy lightning works two-wise: first it buffs allies, second it damage monsters inside - so it is good to have that area close by together and keep the monster there

d) allow the HHH to priority head attacks to the monster for stun effects

e) just to clarify: you get buffs from HHH playing tunes PLUS the glowly lightning - no need to stand in the glowly lightning but it adds up
As a Horn main, we would PREFER if you did so the monster stands in them too, that way we can do more damage, and is always beneficial to you to be in them.

I definitely love a close range area where the damage effect of three echo bubbles stack for the attacks.

That way certain attacks do quadruple the damage on monsters / remotely does three times damage.

Playing HH correctly is like having one of the most overpowered weapons in the game when used in a good team where all make the best out of it.

While it is impossible to build around it with random teams - static teams... oh dear, you can get people >>addicted<< to your HH gameplay easily.
If I see you standing in my disco lights and/or trying to lure monster into them I love you

Nothing beats the extra damage to monsters while yourself getting buffed when attacking. :MHRISE_OK:

I just play Red (affinity). I don't bother with the others. :hiirocurious:

When im there generally my doots do
Heal, Sharpness regain, Debuff remove, Bliight remove, big ouch against monster

Or in another case: Heal, HEal, HeAl, Heal, and heal everyone by ~25% instantly
Earplugs is a must, first song I play, truly despise the roars interrupting fun

I am hunting horn main and I think to appreciate hunting horn it need to go both ways. hunting horn is not support weapon. it is a weapon that can support. it can do good damage, exhaust, and stun so it is always better if the horn player is in the fight like any other weapon. other weapon should not expect support like they will be overpower just by having hunting horn player. i don't think hunting horn is the best support weapon.

you can get melody buff from quite far but not too far. if you fight together likely you will get buff. hh player can hit jin dahaad head and still buff people trying to cut the tail. if you are in a zone just next to the zone the horn player in, you may not get the buff.

the circle on the ground have different effects and you can only get the buff if you ever touch it. there is a buff notification when you get it. the circle stays for some time but the buff from touching circles only active for several seconds but you can touch the circle again if you want. red circle usually related to offensive, yellow circle related to stamina, white circle related to utility, green circle related to health. keeping track of what buff the circle give can be helpful. for example you can remove dragon blight if you remember the circle give blight negation.
