Do not buy MHW or if you have it get a refund, heres why:
Capcom straight up requires frame generation to hit 60 FPS at 1080p in MHW which even heavier more demanding titles like Black Myth Wukong never advertised.

When prompted to release performance fixes by about 70% of the community Capcom released a statement just giving a general troubleshooting page as if it were the players PC's and not the fact that they are using the RESIDENT EVIL 7 engine for MHW which they are.

That particular engine has caused problems in other games long before MHW's release and yet they opted to release it for this title along side denuvo which is very widely known to cause performance issues.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone and quite the opposite in fact, I encourage people spam steam support for a refund to show Capcom this is just unacceptable.

I'm running fairly high end hardware:
Asus Strix X670E-A motherboard
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
RTX 4080 Super
64GB Corsair Dominator Titanum DDR5 6000mhz CL28 memory
1TB WD SN850x Gen 4 SSD
2TB WD SN850x Gen 4 SSD
2TB Crucial T700 Gen 5 SSD
4TB Samsung 990 Pro Gen 4 SSD
Lian Li Edge 1000w platinum PSU.

And my monitor is a AW2725DF 360hz OLED monitor.

I've seen this game drop down to 17 FPS before on HIGH with no ray tracing, with these specs thats just not acceptable at all. Especially when games like Avowed and God of War hit easily up into the 140-200 FPS range on the same settings.

The game has really big performance issues but its still playable on my end.
I hit around 80-100 fps.. so its a mixed feeling for me as i am very much enjoying it! :D

im playing on 4k, ultra settings with RT on, DLSS, FrameGen activated and scaling on quality.
Visually to me it just looks like World at this point tho. xD

but until now i dont have any stutter or lag or whatever some of the people witness

im also running A LOT of other things in the background.. such as 39 opera gx tabs (dont ask me WHY XD) discord, and spotify.

My Settings are:

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
Geforce RTX 4080 Super
64GB 6000mhz DDR5
Game is on a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD
Monitor: 4k Alienware 240Hz QD OLED (AW3225QF)

The game runs fine on my machine
lol no it doesnt. It runs the same for you as it does for everyone else. That is to say it doesnt run well. You might find it acceptable, that's different, and kind of pathetic.

Hmmm... I know a 13600k and a 7900XT is actually not really low end =P
But i would say a solid ~70fps @3440*1440 "Ultra" (Voluminetric Fog down, RT low) FSR Nativ AA (&~135-145ish FG) is quite ok.
Damn would it be great if it would "run the same for everyone else" ^^

Don't get me wrong because the game needs optimization but talking crap it is not running well for anyone is just exactly as stupid as speaking that it generally runs well.

Everyone talking nonsense like this needs a little throwback to World's release and how it ran and not to talk about the Servers.
People seem to have a terrible long-term memory sometimes.

@OP
Sorry for you but i've never seen any fps drop like this.
If there are problems and you want to refund, feel free to do it but stpo talking crap about and telling other people to refund it, too. This is still a you-problem.

Sorry but I cant in good conscience continue to recommend people buy the game, they should be spamming steam support for a refund so it Capcom gets a clue that releasing a game with this bad of performance is not acceptable.
Runs fine in 1440p 70-100fps Ryzen 5600X and RX 7800 XT. Not all at max, with FSR3 (Nativ AA) and Framegeneration. My CPU bottleneck my GPU, but it runs fine for me.
Do not buy MHW or if you have it get a refund

Do I know you or why do you tell me what to do?
You might want to check your PC because I running the same build with only diff being 9800x3d even the motherboard is the same. I run 1440p dlss balanced no framegen and never dip below 60. I run ultra with a few options lower like Mesh quality because I heard its buggy at highest setting. I am also not using High Res texture pack.
I have zero issues running this game with or without frame generation, you're just poor.
Yes optimisation could be better.
No, them releasing a troubleshooting page is not them saying they wont improve performance.

If youre gonna try and get up on a soap box at least dont lie and mislead people.
I have a 4080 and I'm running the game fine. It's not perfect by any means but it hasn't got in the way of my enjoyment of the game.

The only real issue I have found is the texture bug that happens sometimes, that I've seen happen to youtubers and streamers as well, where you get a black flickering mesh on your screen.

However I expect that'll likely be patched out pretty soon. And in my 32 hours played so far I've run into it twice (both times fighting uth duna).
Runs like a charm for me. Haven't had any performance issue since launch day (i5 11700K, 32GB RAM, GeForce 3080, playing at 1440p) with reasonable settings, i.e. pretty high but not max (Raytracing off, Ambient Occlusion and other very heavy settings generally not maxed but on second highest). Had some graphical glitch/artifact a couple of times, but I can't complain about performance.

Might need to try turning my mesh quality down myself then 🤔 sounds like that could be causing the black flickering mesh bug I've seen a few times
well i have a lesser high tech computer and i run the game on 'high' settigns with raytracing on 'medium' and i literarily have no issues.

and tbh generally your post sounds more like a cryout for a witchhunt against capcom. if you dont like their games thats fine, dont buy them, noone forces you. but dont try to ruin it for everyone else << thats childish
Did you donwload the hd textures? Thats a killer for now. Just dont play in ultra until the add some fixes mate. The game works perfectly fine with a 3070 on ultra wide, with mid-high settings.

They are still better graphics than a lot of games xD

But yeah if you eyes melt without ultra ray tracing, is not the time to play it.
Playing on ultra, 1440p, at 120fps. So no thanks lil bro, I won't be refunding anything.

Friend Is playing with an i7 and a 3070. She's yet to have any issues.

Can confirm she also won't be refunding.

You keep doing your thing though, you'll show them who's boss!
It probably is denuvo. Other RE engine games don’t play very nice with it.
