Please, stop with the story, we come here to kill monster...
I understand the story, i understand it's somewhat cool and all, but since at least MH Worlds, it's been a problem to play online or just go into action.

You have to WAIT till your friend see the cutscene, which are long, not everybody care and to top it off, it kick you from the link lobby when he enter a cutscene ??? like what ? why ? that's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb, what kind of system is that ?

Join their link lobby if you wanna see each other but get kick once there is a cutscene for the story...and guess what ? The Whole game so far is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ story, so we either do monster that dies super quickly, or wait till we both saw the cutscene again to play with each other for 1 hunt that is pretty fast on top of that...thanks...

i just wanna be with my friend, go kill ♥♥♥♥, get sick looking equipment, but noooo, the story man ! The story has been too prevalent on Worlds and Wild, kinda miss when you could just take a quest and go, really liked the key quest, if you wanted to fight higher rank instead of doing everything you just had to kill certain monster at least, now you have to take 10 years looking at cutscene...

I hate it personally, i wanna play with my friends, i don't wanna look at the cutscene, both me and my friends just pass them because we want to play together, and at the same time it feels like we are missing something because we don't look at them, it's a horrible design, Monster hunter was NOT a story telling game, but a bit easier dark souls like, Monster hunting game with friends and /or other people, and it was good like that.

I have to say it again but, why the ♥♥♥♥ do they do a lobby system, where it kick you from your friend lobby because he has to look at a cutscene ? The joining system is terrible, there is no point in it, just put it back to 4 player lobby and let us see each other without issue and i'll be happy, i don't need to see 40 people where i will only play with 3 of them, i need to see my friend or the random and play with them, im at the black flame rn and my friend is almost to the monster before it, and i did 4 and a half quest with him, the other 2-3 hours was waiting for him to look at cutscene

That was my little rant about the story and forced cutscene i hated it in MH Worlds, i hate it in Wilds, my friend did tell me rise didn't have this issue, i didn't play it i can't say, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, leave your story on the side and let me play a game, im even thinking going back to having zone would be much better, game would have better performance if it only loaded 1 zone at a time.

Looks like 3 sane person to me...game isn't really "too bad" so far, but damn, the story coming back to slow you down and making you unable to join other people and friends...

Indeed. I dont' get it the design. If the story intrudes on the gameplay, skip it.

yup, very little story if any, just introduction to the village new biome to beat more ♥♥♥♥ and we are good to go !

I remember that in MH4U, you also had solo quest, which did have exclusive things like new hunting art and i think pendant or something. Wasn't a fan cause i don't like playing solo game that much, hope they don't bring this back either lol

Welcome to the sane hunter guild. There's absolutely zero excuse to give Monster Hunter a story. If you have a good script than make an actual good movie. "Oh but we wanted to give players something different" then bring back water combat, give us the option to mount a Rathalos while he flies over the whole map. To even think they wasted talent, resources, time, to create a story of all things... I only buy Capcom games nowadays, because I'm sick of western triple A walking simulators. So you imagine my surprise when I discovered they made a GTA with Monsters... Well done Capcom, well done. And not tasty.

yeah i really do not understand making an open world game where you follow NPCs with an auto-walking chicken while people just yap constantly. "monsters are trying to kill us, kill them first" is the only thing that needs to be stated.

i think all games have an issue with chattiness and absolutely boring drivel dialogue lately. I find myself just reading what's being said in subtitles and skipping ahead as the delivery of the lines isn't even interesting. it's like they're afraid of dead air and fill it with talking.

And some quests may be solo only (just like in an MMO), but it would at least let you join and stay in a link party outside of those solo-only quests.

Yeah, i would have been way happier with water combat than the story !

Yup, Story isn't "bad" in itself, but i would have much prefer more monster like you said ;)

Yeah, if you could stay with your friends and see the cutscene, advance together and skip the cutscene if everybody vote, i wouldn't even mind it as much.

I discovered the lobby sucks even more than that recently it's so stupid i can't believe somebody designed it, if you have your friend in your linked environment, the only thing you can do is hunt random monster that are available, you can't choose a quest at the handler, and you can't teleport to another zone without leaving your linked environment. i

I believe you can walk till you change zone like you had to do in the story, but we didn't try it since the monster we wanted to fight wasn't there, so we left the link environment to select a quest to join each other...nice design...

While I agree the story intrudes a bit too much on, for example, multiplayer, this kind of reeks of people who haven't had a vested interest in the ancient civilization "plotline" throughout the entirety of the series.

A lot of people who have been following the games since their inception have DESPERATELY wanted more information on the ancient civ and exactly what it was/was not capable of.

This story opened up a TON of potential monster returns (for example monoblos, as atm it is literally an extinct species but now with what we learned in the story it has a potential to come back revamped.)

There has also been something called the "Equal dragon weapon" that was previously only in artbooks. We basically got a (somewhat) similar equivalent with arkveld and the guardians - proof the ancient civilization was actively capable of genetically engineering monsters and altering their behavior to work for them.

For anyone invested in the old "lore" that was never completely confirmed or cannon, this story was a wet dream that many of us have been waiting for for quite a long time.

To anyone who doesn't know about all that old lore, you will not care as much. If you joined via world where the ancient civ was barely mentioned, you DEFINITELY don't understand why so many long-time fans really love this plotline.

That being said, I'm not sure why they didn't just make the cutscenes four players????

My biggest gripe with the story so far is: you can load up the next map through fast travel without issue but they force you to walk through those unoptimised as hell corridors between maps for the story. If you can't handle, programming seamless loading screens, then don't force us to go through them.
