How useful is swapping weapons to you?
I've noticed in my few hours of gameplay at least that swapping weapons isn't, exactly... Useful? At least to me. I mostly play insect glaive, and I guess I can make two of the same weapon and have blunt and severing kinsects on each, but that feels crazy niche.

So, what weapons do you play? And is the ability to swap weapons helpful to you?

It's nice to keep a range weapon so when a monster starts going crazy I can still keep attacking & not have down time.
not verry i thought it was gonna be a game changer... but ive noticed i still slip into the habit on sticking to my main and being like oh yeah theres a swap mechanic im thinking it might be good for changing elements on you weapon though but thats about it

I play Charge blade with a Insect Glaive as secondary., which I never used :>
I was thinking about a hunting horn.
Doing the story now and so far this game is super easy.... So no need to buff, when monster die within 5 minutes anyways......
for now im switchting between Greatsword and Switch Axe, both weapons i havent played before. main story is Switch Axe, and when im farming mobs for crafting im using Greatsword.
i completely forgot it was even a thing since i just use the same dual blades every hunt so i can actually get better with them. so far there has been no need to think about a secondary loadout at all since the fights have been pretty easy

It's a neat feature but I haven't found a great use of it just yet. My only real idea was to use late-game hunting horns for buffs then swap back to a main weapon.

I just bring a different element of the same weapon, so i can swap while hunting out in the wild.

I guess it would be useful for people wanting to min/max, like Hunting Horn a monster to get your stun/exhausts then swap to a bladed weapon for tail cuts.

Or whatever status the monster is vulnerable to. In reality it's mostly a way to skip sharpening lol

its not practical to bind it to the mount. it looks stupid to mount and swap weapons in the middle of fight. dismount again. silly and time consuming.

Insect Glaive is so specialized that it kinda overlooks any additional mechanics

I can see it being useful on Greatsword for status into damage combos, or making breathing room with ranged weapons against more active monsters.

It's nifty, but the more you approach optimal play with a weapon the less time you want to waste on switching it up.

Also, Blunt or go home.
Whatever you like to play + long sword for cutting parts. Unless you are relying on teamates to cut parts for you?

as a horn main, i tend to like some horns for some things, and other horns for other things, so having the ability to just swap is pretty handy.
sometimes i use the lance and tank for the party, so having that as my backup when i pull way too much aggro is pretty nice.
Having a blunt weapon to break horns and hard parts, and the lance to help cut tails is a pretty good combo, but that might be because im primarily support, so i see more use in it than others, i have noticed that im the only one that really uses it in our team, and my wife doesn't even have a secondary weapon set at all, its just empty.
I haven't swapped my weapon a single time, idk if it's just because it's new and old habits die hard or what, but I forget I even have a second weapon.
