No one ever played a Monster Hunter game for the story.
Once I had my handler dissappear so I couldn't post a quest in plains. Once I started fighting she reappeared near me.
Crazy stupid
"Something happens. Kill monster. Something else happens. Kill monster. Can I use this Nata kid as bait? Kill monster"
Correct me if I'm wrong but this actually pushes away both old AND new players
I'm blown away how many people are calling this a "good" story. Its not good even for MH standards because it takes away from the hunting of monsters and its definitely not good in terms of gaming stories in general.
Everything is predictable too.
Remember when the "walk and talk" style or story telling was made fun up after Gears of War and others ran that style into the ground? Now in 2025 we are still getting this force feed slop of writing/story telling that hampers the overall point of these types of games.
At least the story/writing in those early 360 era games was good and memorable, this trash in just cringe and would have been better off not in the game at all.
Nobody plays Monster Hunter for the story, and if you as a developer decide to include a story anyway, you should make sure that it doesn't prevent the player from playing freely.
