There needs to be options to block modded players.
Seriously, with Denuvo implemented, this game is going to have lots of mods. That is good and very bad at the same time.

To be honest, my friends would like to play with other players that doesn't like modding, then there needs to be option to block players that use mods.

Denuvo isn't enough!

i have hopes that these player are simply banned.. but denuvo is not enough for this...
At least you are complete free to play "Solo" with AI companions. This will be my perfered playstyle if the AI is good enough.

there is no way to detect who is using mods or not. at least not on player side.

Hopefully we will see good detection in this title, client side mods that only affect the appearance of things on your end don't matter but the ones that give you insane advantages and let you cheat are not cool beans

safest way would probably to have private lobby, but that is kind killing pugs.

I do agree people that mods that affect others should not be in multiplayer unless all parties agrees.

But having that said, client side mods, that only affects the users using it i say go ahead, get your performance boost/graphics overhaul. As long as it doesnt cost/affects other.

Wilds needs always online and VAC.

Depends, and it can run a fine line. I don't see anything wrong with modding your own game if you're just playing offline/solo. If you want to allow OHK or 100X material drops or add in a shop where you just buy everything you need, well all you're doing is ruining your own experience imo.

But once you take that online and into someone else's game we have issues. I'd like to think they would only ban modding insofar as it affects multiplayer. But since singleplayer can cross over into multiplayer I dunno how they would thread that needle. Most likely I think they will just not allow modding at all, but they have to know that there will be backlash from that if it's just a blanket ban.

Definitely a big no to the always online thing. Making it live service would kill it for me. Not to mention that it would permanently kill the game once they decide to not run the servers anymore.

I want to come back to the game even after several years have passed. Can't do that if it's always online, because they might have shut down the servers by then.

You know, I think the best solution to the whole modding problem would be to normally block them from joining games, but you can still have them join through friend invites or whatever. However, if you have any non modded players with you, they can't join and vice versa.

I mean, sometimes you have hunts with modded monsters like an ice Rajang or something and want to have fun hunting that thing with a friend or two. It would suck if they were fully blocked when you just want to do stupid things with mods. It of course sucks when people just want to ruin the experiences of others with them....

Would a filter work? Allow mods: Yes/No, or could mods bypass that?

It will need some work. But pulling it off will help a lot. So modded and non-modded players can enjoy the game how they see fit. Also, there will be crossplay, I think? I have friends that doesn't like modding at all! Would be better to have this filter...

I don't think simple visual mods need to be grouped up with cheat mods.

If the game could somehow differentiate that would be fine. Like MR8 people running around with fatalis gear.

This thread reads like some kind of Capcom / bot psy-op post...

Capcom hates mods, they would more realistically just block modded players from joining period
