Tomorrow is Black Friday and Monday is Cyber Monday
If you need new PC parts, or a new PC in general, check out the sales on these days! We want you to play Wilds when it is released!

The nonstop threads about how the requirements are too high isn't going to make Capcom change the game - especially this late in development. If you want to play Monster Hunter Wilds then you will NEED to upgrade.

We on the forum warned you back in September that you should start putting money aside so you can afford the parts/PC you need. Now is the time to spend that money! Wishing you well in your search. Hope to see you in game enjoying the new monsters! :hexhappy:

Sure. But considering we're on a gaming forum, for a game, specifically talking about GPU's to play the game with.

I think I'm fine with my gaming oriented response.
It would make more sense to state the benefits of both cards and leave it up to the person to decide instead of immediately jumping to saying the 4060 isn't a good purchase

And I do.. where it's appropriate.

4060 gets a 55.1% (84.9 FPS), 1080 gets a 34.4% (54.0 FPS), which is a 20.7% difference. So, what's the new goalpost? Are these sites bogus too?

Nope the results are the results, glad to see you checking the websites I recommended.

Techspot is the "paper" version of Hardware Unboxed on Youtube, so you only get data from GPU releases, and have to figure out for yourself the comparative data.

Unfortunately all (and I mean ALL) of the direct "compare X component to Y component" websites are just making stuff up.

Or they rely on user posted benches for data, and the problem with that is the average user is dumber than a bag of hammers, and will have incorrectly configured RAM, or background apps, or viruses, or thermal throttling etc that are variables that can be controlled for in proper testing.

4060 on average I would expect to be 30-35% ahead of the 1080, so it's definitely underperforming compared to my expectations.

As for people asking if the 4060 is a good purchase. No, it's just not.

It's a $300 GPU, and at that price you can get a 6750XT.

Which has 4GB more VRAM and is roughly 10% faster in rasterisation.
Thanks for your point on the 6750xt bit, that's good to know but i'm very hesitant on buying AMD gpus because i've had a few before and...it didn't end well lol. Granted i was a noob back then (i still am, but i was noober then) so maybe it was something i did wrong...but still, i'm hesitant.

Looking around this Black Friday, there's no performing GPU in the $150 to $200 range. Everything else is $300+.

I too had bad experiences with AMD GPUs, got my 1080 on sale for $450 and it's still going strong *knockonwood*.
RotGoblin 2 dec, 2024 @ 12:14
And I've had 3 Nvidia GPU's try to brick themselves due to bad driver updates.

Yet i'd still buy an Nvidia GPU if the performance was there.

Also, most peoples negative experiences with AMD GPU's is because they didn't DDU/fresh install the drivers and caused a graphics driver conflict between Nvidia drivers and AMD drivers.
Mythily 2 dec, 2024 @ 12:22
AMD's newer GPUs are far more stable than the old ones. If you get any 6000 series GPU you're good to go.

Can't say i would, but i still have time to think about it so we'll see

I can't speak for other people but my first build was a budget build with an amd gpu. When it crapped out I got it replaced/repaired (this was like 14 years ago, I can't remember lol) under warranty and that one crapped out too. I was able to get it replaced again shortly after my friend, who also had ♥♥♥♥♥♥ AMD luck found the 1080 deal. So mine definitely wasn't driver issues. I just had really bad luck twice in a row

Yeah AMD roughly 2016-2021 was pretty rough.

The early RX 480's had major issues, and RX590's got too hot. The gen before that R9 290/R9 390 were actually very solid cards (but power thirsty).

Vega was overpriced and a fairly wonky launch.

They definitely had a very off period. But there was some gold along the way.

I litterally posted various LINKS on this topic. I am not sure if you are just being ignorant, a troll, or just plain want to caujse arguements at this point?
You posted two links in the same post, both of which were 3060 (which benchmarks worse than the 1080, shocker) vs the 4060. See my response to Goblin with the "certified" websites benchmarking the 1080 as ~35% worse than the 4060.

Meanwhile the 4060 will run beta in camp 45-60~

If you're on PC, you should always aim for 60 FPS.

You're fine with it, which is fine in itself, but you're litterally trying to resort to score websites which dont reflect FPS.
Dude, do *not* tell me what I should or should not be happy with in my gaming experience. I am perfectly happy to play any and every game at 30 fps. I don't rage bait about games being fps locked to 30 fps either. Because, as long as the fps is steady, I cannot tell a difference between 30 and 60 and 120+. Side by side? Sure, I can tell. Swapping from 30 to 60 (or vice versa) sure I can tell a difference for a minute or two, once I'm adjusted to the new fps it's indistinguishable.

I aim for a steady framerate that matches my monitors refresh rate, whether that's 30 or 60. That's what I "always aim for" and I would never tell you, or anyone else, that they need to enjoy pc games like me.
I'll tell you etxactly that.

Enjoy your input laggy 10 fps.

Once you stop using score metrics and actually use benchmarks.

Also in what world is getting 20 frames more worse then a 1080 on a 3060?...

Did you even watch the videos? lmao

54/20*100?

Monster Hunter has been 30 fps for most of its life. If I could solo bloodbath at 30 I'm sure they'll be fine if they want to aim for 30

And? If someone's happy with the performance of their computer why upgrade? Just to have the latest thing?
That's not being very financially responsible

I never said he shouldnt be happy with the performance he gets.

But he's providing wrong benchmark metrics, and complains his 1080 cant run a game 8 years after his gpu is released.
Poyzo 3 dec, 2024 @ 0:31
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over! I hope the ones who needed upgrades to play Wilds upgraded, but reading through the topic and the other topics, I think a lot of folks doubled down and are refusing to upgrade/still blame Capcom.

I hope you're right in thinking Capcom will optimize the game enough so your 1060 card can play it, although if that doesn't happen I really don't want to read anymore topics/posts about how Capcom didn't cater to your 8+ year old GPU. You will not garner any sympathy around here.
