and in case you just didn't quite understand how mounting works in this game, you're supposed to open a wound and then perform a weapon attack on that wound to do a similar finisher to what you do in world, giving a knockdown and finishing the mount.
The finisher for Wilds is so much better and I'm sorry your buddy is a little bit of a twerp for that, you full on buzz saw into the monster and it looks so metal for how awesome it was, my second favorite to hammer that looks sick for other reasons.
Your buddy was also being very greedy and hurting your play in the long run, without skills to back up its other playstyles in the beta and just assuming the early game being without skills you wanna pop wounds to get axe mode to go nuts for damage.
Yeah, Definiatly like the new animations so far
It's huge. Especially for weapons like Insect Glaive and Sword and Shield that can really exploit those taller wounds.
Its built up to be very useful now since you can basically guarantee wounds if you dont suck at mounting. Theres even a rotation out there to optimize inflicting 3 wound spots.
But also, open wounds more easily and create a knock down
the benefits are knocking the monster over, easily creating multiple wounds, and using the finisher to do extra damage + triggering the special affects on certain weapons like unlocking saw mode for cb and getting all buffs for ig.
We mount cause it's badass to rodeo the dragon and knock em over.
The beta lasted a very short while in the most crowded event period of the year. I didn't have time to test these things myself, I barely got to hunt everything in the beta once or twice. More so focusing on how the multiplayer ran.
