infinite load screen
i bought this game yesterday and was playing it fine for about 3 hours, then i decided to go to bed. woke up the next morning to resume playing, and i click on continue and i got a load screen that i felt was lasting for a long time so i waited it out and i waited about 10 to 15 minutes and it was still on a load screen. so i restarted my pc and this time i tried to click load and select my save, that didnt work either i ended up with another infinte load screen. is there any way to fix my issue or do i just have to uninstall and reinstall the game and start over?

Do not click continue. Click on load game it's the only way to avoid the infinite loop.

You don't need to uninstall and reinstall! People keep telling people to do that and out of the loads of experience I have learned from mod management and trial and error I have never had to do this. I have been modding for well over 4 years and have made my own mods.

Are you using any mod managers or have you installed any mods? Have you made any ini. changes in the falloutdefault.ini <-----The one in the directory. I will help you out, if you want send me a message or invite.

I have the same issue and i am using the nexus mod manager, anyway, you can work around that Infinite loop by starting a new game and then load your old save from inside the game.

Hey, I had trouble with this but found a way around it. I could not go to the load screen as I had no files to load. I right clicked on the game in my steam account, selected properties and verified the integrity of the cache. Turns out I had two corrupt files. After this I have had no problems.

i did the cache thing aswell and it worked. but another thing i did to resolve my problem was to start a new game then load my previous save that worked and all i had to do was save again and i havnt had problems since but i still dont trust that continue button so i usualy click load then select my save that seems to work for me. i dont know how to solve the 5 minute crashes though.... i never had that problem sorry

If you keep using autosave a lot or keep saving over a save a lot it can cause croupt saves. Just make a fresh save every once in awhile or a unquie save through the console but just remember you will have to exit the game and go back in so your achievements can be re-enabled.

Yep, validating game cache fixes this issue.

I swear there should be a sticky topic on infinite loading screens and the old way (start new game, then load) and the new way (NVAC) listed there

I did make a topic on general stability, this included, but hasn't been stickied yet:

I am getting the same thing... Sorta..

About a 3 in 10 chance that any loading screen will never stop. So I go through a door and sometimes it will never stop loading (I've let it run for hours before with no change) nothing "Fixes" this, but I have got all that stuff like stutter remover and all the stuff FNV requires for modding and smooth playing. The game runs great, got a good maybe 20-30 mods running. No ENB's or anything, they drop my frame rate to low for my taste. It has been happening since I had less than 5 mods so I've just been dealing with it but I'm done with that.

Every time it happens it means I have to Ctrl alt del and sign out, then wait for the game to finish shutting down, then I sign in and click fallout nv and have to wait for steam to load up and ♥♥♥♥ around updating itself just so I can exit it and open it again in NVSE, AND THEN finally get back onto the menu and hit continue (Which seems to always work for me, but again it somethings doesn't but neither does load). All this to walk through a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ door is a little much sometimes... And what makes it worse is there is still a change that when it loads up and I get back to the door, it might never stop loading AGAIN.

Edit: Actually, come to think of it, this never happened before using NVSE launcher to play NV. But of course to use a good amount of mods on Nexus and beyond you need to run it through SE.

Yeah, I'm only using Yukichigai's Unofficial patch, it still doesn't work.
SOMETIMES, although not everytime, I go through a door that is supposed to bring me to a loading screen, this ♥♥♥♥ happens. The loading screen keeps going and going until all the sound effects stop and I have to bring up task manager and force end the process.
I've tried everything and nothing fixes this.

I would just run around, doing quests, entering and exiting building, everything is fine until that one ENDLESS loading screen shows up and I have to exit the game.

Loading my save from a New Game. NO.
REINSTALL the entire game. NO.
Restart PC. NO.
Restart Steam. NO.
Verify integrity of game files. NO.
I've rolled back saves before the point I've encountered this issue. NO.

saving in interior cells (buildings) seems to work for me
