Weapon mod problems (possible WME and/or EVE issue). Weapon mods stopped working.
I don't know how it happened, but suddenly a good portion of my weapon mods just stopped functioning. Weapons that were previously moddable were suddenly stripped of their mods and went back to vanilla-only mods, labeling the WME mods as Mod 1, Mod 2, Mod 3. It strips the visual and functional aspect as well. And some mods are simply labeled "Orpahned GRA MOD".

I don't know what caused this. It simply happened while I was just playing the game. I hadn't even added mods recently or tinkered with the files.

So far I've seemed to linked it to an WME problem since the troubled mods are added by WME or interact with it somehow. Problem is I've done things to correct it like reinstall the mod (but not uninstal completely, I'll try that next) but nothing works.

Any advice or help would be appreciated, even if it doesn't completely solve it. I don't really want to completely redo New Vegas, but I might have to in order to get rid of this really annoying problem.

Reinstall WME. You may lose weapons and/or mods from your inventory, but you can always console-spawn them in.

Sounds very much like there's a conflict going on. If you're running WME and EVE together, one of them is bound to override changes made by the other since they both edit a lot of weapons. There's a compatibility patch for them among the WME downloads, you should get it if you haven't already. Make sure you have patches for other mods as well.

Or that. Never even considered that EVE can override anything other than visual data. Never actually used that mod, the promo images looked kinda bad…

I'm sure it is a conflict but I have compatibility patches and it's still strange. For instance I have Better That Gun with the WME patch but it won't let me mod That Gun still even though it worked PERFECTLY not three days ago. It's like WME suddenly went on strike for no reason.

Is there a particular load order they need to be in? Because if so I might play around with that a bit, see if I can update the compatibility patches (all of them and the mods are up to date but checking can't hurt), then try the uninstall/reinstall method. I'm hoping it's just a botched load order which'll be an easy fix.

EVE is also great. Functions perfectly and makes energy weapons feel fresh. Better than the originals. EVE + Evergy Weapons De-Nerfed makes an EW playthrough my favorite.

never used it! man, you don't know what you're missing! i love that mod!

I tried a hefty number of visuals-related mods, but to be honest, never stuck with any of them, including any of the texture packs. I just really don't give a single damn about how the game looks, I want it to play good.

Yes, it needs to edit energy weapons to use the new projectiles and critical effects and it also changes models and weapon mods.

I think it looks incredible, really, adds some much needed flavor to energy weapons. I run a pretty minor setup graphical wise, no ENBs (yuck) or major texture packs. But EVE + IMPACT + Enchanced Blood Textures = goodness! :)

Load order is always important with these kinds of mods. You could try putting WME further down in your load order. You can also post your load order here and hope someone has any input. I actually don't use WME myself, so I'm afraid I can only offer speculation.

You could also try posting it on the Nexus forum with a plea for help.

New Vegas is modern enough for me to not really care about Hd texture packs. It looks pretty great anyway. I do have some great looking HD texture packs for a few older games though, like Half Life, AvP Classic and Operation Genesis.

Well here's my load order (all of those are used). Just a head's up though, it's long and messy and disorganized. If you see anything wrong with something (it doesn't even have to be WME specific) I'll fix it up and try it out. I really need to reorganize anyway...

The WME esms at the top don't seem to make a difference. I know it technically shouldn't be there but I get the unusable mods even if I put them at the bottom. Could probably move though.

aren't you using FOVEdit to get them in the right order?
talgaby Dec 11, 2014 @ 11:49am
EVE is under the WME-EVE compatibility patch, overriding it…
Also, sort this mess out with LOOT or BOSS.
Sensor Sweep Dec 11, 2014 @ 12:32pm
Yeah my load order is absolute garbage, not afraid to admit that. Not sorted with FNVEdit yet so right now I'm going to sort by hand then see if I can figure out how to work FNVEdit and BOSS. Both programs are really tough for me to understand for some reason, but I should get it.
R5CYA Dec 11, 2014 @ 12:40pm
FOVEdit is simple for me. it just stops when it comes to a problem. never could make much sense out of BOSS though.
talgaby Dec 11, 2014 @ 12:45pm
BOSS has a huge database that puts a ton of known mods in an order. It checks what you have from that list and arranges them in an order that they don't conflict. It's also automated, just one click on a button, and it will do it's stuff. same with LOOT, but that has a supposedly updated list.
