Okay, for serious answer, open the console and type these commands one by one:
Thanks! also i heard the quest sound as i did it, did i fail a quest?
Ok it was probably a side mission i forgot about anyway.
It happens more often then you think...
I've done "One for..." several times and didn't always recruit Boone immediately only to go back later to round him up in the Dino head. maybe I've beaten a deadline in the game where the cutoff is Boone offing himself - IDK. The suicide thing does sound a tiny bit logical as Boone is really screwed up over his wife (leaving out spoiler info).
He's the only companion with two different story endings too - isn't he? Hint, hint... (FYI living ones not including any where they died).
I thought so; I got 1139 hours logged with NV through Steam and played it all on the XBox 360 and never saw anything like Boone whacking himself. Simply a case of dark humor or wise ass disposition.
You don't need to kill Boone if you know he is just lost. Try this first.
