I found my first companion, Boone. What should I do now with him? (Non sexual things)
Hello

I finished the Boone's quest and talk to him. Now he is my companion. My karma is good and, even I am not with the NCR (at least now) I have good reputation with them (only good, nothing especial).
For what I know, Boone has a past with them and he hates the Legion.

Be with him can ruin my future talking or quests with the legion? I dont know anything about this guys, only that they have... well, a "lottery." Nothing else (first playthrough).

I know that the companios has personal quest, how do I trigger? Being with Boone makes me only suitable for the NCR? Can we split temporaly and then join him in Novac again?

What could happen if he and me go to the save the slaves from Nipton?

Thanks, I'm kinda lost with the companions here.

At this point you can take on the Legion and later be "forgiven" when you get Benny one way or another. I won't spoil it for you. You can part ways with any companion and get them back at their original location. In the vanilla game at least you can have only one humanoid companion at a time. Quests trigger based on locations and dialogs with other NPCs. That is why you will want to switch out companions from time to time, but you'll never know until it happens (or look it up in a guide).

I have mods but only for new weapons/skins/lights, etc. Companions are not touched.

I continue some quests with boone, as long as my "future" was not tied up with the companion is ok. Thanks for the quick response!!!

You're welcome! To be completely honest, I've never worked with Boone. But I have worked with a couple of ladies and a Nightkin. There are also a couple of cybernetic/robotic companions with quests that you can have along with you at the same time as the humanoids. So, that's two companions at a time in the vanilla game. When you encounter a potential new companion, you'll get a dialog that indicates who needs to go home before you can accept the new companion.

Oh, thanks. I thought I will miss Dogmeatm like the originals and 3, but a robot is OK :P

There is a "dog" with a linked quest. You'll probably figure it out when you see it.

Your companions do not matter in the game play. I have had most of the conpanions with me in their enemy territory, and it makes no difference at all. You can also have the Kings dog or ed-e with you and have one other companion. When you get the kings dog and upgrade its brain he is like a tank. If you are on the highest setting your companions will get the experience points so keep that in mind.

Boone hates Legion and it is translated ingame as he shoots anything in the Legion faction on sight and may even chase them over large distances. Also while he is companion all Legion is permanently hostile and will try to kill you. Which is ultra-fun when Boone is out twelve kilometers away chasing some mongrels while their masters are shooting at you…
But if you don't mind travelling with a bloodthirsty idiot and like the shooting part of the game then he is probably the best companion.

Oh while you are travelling with Boone, turn off the kill-cams.
