STUCK Sierra Madre!!
Hey fallout lovers!

I dont know if any of you have been here. But im in the Vault on the Madre quest you talk to the guy on te main computer then he comes down and starts shooting you.... i killed him then you have to escape before your collar goes off. This quest has been a nightmare im surprised i have made it this far zombie holograms everywhere!!!! Anyway i follow my radar to escape and i end up in the room with the poison gas and rotating generator thing at the bottom then my collar goes off. I think im supposed to find an elevator, impossible!!!!

Cheers for any help

Pip boy adzy :)

I had this same problem for a while, and it took me a while to realize that the map marker for the escape will lead you astray if you follow it blindly. The elevator is really not that far from the vault itself. It's literally across the platform straight in front of the vault door. Considering they only give you a slightly generous minute to escape, you have to book it across the platform, through what used to be a shield barrier, into the hallway, and use the elevator. With the right positioning, you can see the vault door from the elevator. They wouldn't force you to try to run five minutes worth of distance in just sixty-ish seconds.

I hear ya mate. I eventually got very frustrated at failing this over and over and over (for far longer than I care to admit actually), and finally succumbed to using god mode and noclip console cheats to fly around and find the exit. I felt very silly and stupid when I realized just how close salvation is here. No joke, I probably spent a good two to three hours tracking down that stupid map marker before slapping myself and going "wtf me, the elevator is right here! remember where you pop into this level from next time!". Unfortunately, doing such actions prevented me from getting the achievements for completing this portion (next time New Vegas! Next time...!).

Hey Di,

Just tried it that little hallway on the riht your talkng about is blocked off with the blue force field do you have to dissarm it with a computer? Im locked out of all of the computers around that area...

Not that one, it's across the bridge straight out from the vault door. The one to the right leads to a dead end. I've slept a few times since I finished Sierra Madre, so I'm not absolutely 100% sure, but the escape route shouldn't have any force fields active. If you head downstairs, you're going to die. I may also have given myself a concussion from slapping my forehead when I realized how close the exit actually is. I'd load up my game to check it out for you just to make sure, but that particular character hasnt been in Sierra Madre in dozens of hours.

Actually, looked it up on gamefaqs just to check for you. Here's a link *SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILERS!!!* (not story spoilers. It won't tell you who says what or anything like that, but this page will hold your hand)

http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/620886-fallout-new-vegas-dead-money/faqs/69550

Down near the bottom of the page is a section entitled "Heist of the Centuries" with a handy pip-boy map of the vault area. You can clearly see the entrance (elevator) and the quest marker for the vault door. Hope this helps, and I don't mind saying that this page proves me a bit of a mistaken liar.

Any time dude. I just regret having to post a walkthrough on here. I try really hard to beat a game on my own, without help or cheats, at least once before resorting to a FAQ or cheating (for fun) to get everything I possibly can. Glad it helped you out though.

Don't worry, it's only confusing for a first timer, and if you got impatient enough when you reached the vault portion.
When you go down the elevator the first time you can actually see the vault right in front of you through the glass: it's just blocked by a force field, this is why you must take the long way.
When you arrive at the vault and look around a bit, you can actually see the red lights where the escape elevator should be to help you with the orientation.

Don't bother killing Elijah, as soon as you're done talking leg it to the elevator as you need to take the long route.
If you just run, you don't even have to care about miffing off security holograms as you'll be around the corner before they start shooting... XD
