that's what makes it such a weird bug, days without a problem, then (maybe) every time I Fast travel
That's because when you fast traveled you had placed the cursor in the minimap outside its bounds or when you were on the 'map' menu when you switched to a different menu but in doing so you moved the cursor out of bounds, it's the exact same problem I had in 2014.

The fix is simple
  1. Open your minimap by pressing TAB
  2. Optional: Navigate to the 'map' menu if you're not on it.
  3. Place your cursor in the middle of it.
  4. Most important:
Use the arrow keys to navigate the Pip Boy menu from the 'map' menu to a different one so as to avoid any tampering with this cancerfest of a cursor
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 whenever neccesary.

It happens often if you use a (gaming) mouse with a custom driver, instead of a simple USB plug-and-play one.

interesting i wonder why, is it just because of the custom software?

I have the same issue and I'm just using a normal mouse.

Yes, because of the custom software. New Vegas is quite sensitive, it only wants to use Windows native drivers and codecs. I'm not entirely sure why…

coljultan, can you define your problem a bit more? I am having a seemingly similiar issue where the mouse doesn't completely stop working (I can still move it in menus and see a cursor) but it stops letting me click on anything. This is especially apparent in the Pipboy, inventories, and dialog option menus.

Is your problem similiar?

yes exactly my problem, never happened until yesterday and i have been playing like 30 hours but now i'm level 20 and it just started happening on friday. pretty weird glitch, i also verified integrity of the game and it said 1 file was missing but it still didn't help.

Are you running any mods? If so, which ones? I am running F OOK, EVE, and WME.

i'm not actually running any just vanilla, i don't think mods would conflict with a mouse glitch anyways. Are you using windows 8?

Well, I know some mods mess with the UI, but if you're vanilla that nixes that.

Win 8 here. I'm also running a Logitech G15, Logitech G13, and Logitech G700 in terms of peripherals. Though, I doubt that its an issue there, but hell I'm at a loss.

Yeah man as am I, but you're actually using a good mouse from logitech. Mine is an off-brand chinese gaming mouse that had no problems before. I think it might be Windows 8 screwing with the game it seems like.

Its not that the mouse stops working though. Like, it still fully functions in the game world, shooting, etc. Its only in the Pipboy, inventories, and dialog option menus.

Has anybody found a permanent fix yet? I'm having the same problem. Been closing out the game and restarting, but it has been happening a lot (only today. the game was fine yesterday).
OUberLord Jun 7, 2015 @ 2:48pm
Not yet. I spent most of my troubleshooting time this weekend thinking it was a mod issue. Turns out, that likely isn't the case. Are you also running Win 8 Fisherman?
