How to run with Xbox controller ?
Hello,

I've plugged a Xbox controller (actually Razer Sabertooth) to play this game (I usually use mouse+keyboard).

All works fine, except that I can't find the button/sequence to run. I've looked into forums but I never find an answer.

Of course, I'm not overweighted in game :).

Can someone help me ?

Sorry for my bad english ;).

I though movement speed with peasant stick is the usual "how much you push the stick forward" method, not a separate button.

Well, unfortunately even with the stick "full ahead", my character doesn't run at all.

That… doesn't seems to be normal. At all. If you switch back to keyboard, can you run in the same save?
Also, since it was never actually intended to be played with controller on PC, it may very well be that only an official X360 controller is working with it… to a degree. We had a number of threads people complaining that even the most expensive 3rd party ones don't even seem to get recognised at all.
(Even though it should use Xinput, so it should not matter what you use…)

Well, when I switch back to keyboard, yes, I can run. I've just noticed that the SVAV to aiming differents parts of body doesn't work either.

I think you're right about the fact it was not intended to be played with controller....

So I come back to my keyboard for this time.

Many thanks for your interest to my problem ;).

Only official xbox 360 controller is supported, thats what it says on the box. I play with 1 & have no problems. In case you are wondering the version i play is the retail enhanced for multi-core version.

Retail version does not use this, must only be steam version. Maybe cut it out (not delete) and try again.

The retail version is the same as on Steam. The boxed edition for PC does nothing but spares you bandwidth by installing it tot the same directory Steam would. But FO:NV on PC is strictly Steam-exclusive. There are games that have this boxed "offline Steam installation" option, but that doesn't make them the least bit different from the "normal" Steam versions.

you cant run in fallout its more of a slow jog (puting your weapons away will make you move faster) there are sprinting mods on the nexus

He was talking about that though. The normal movement speed opposed to the encumbered/walking one.

honestly i am having the same trouble (using PS4 controller everything else works fine). i checked the key binds for the controller and there wasn't even an option for "run". switched to keyboard/mouse and the option was there. trouble is that when i hit that key instead of running my character slows way down.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
