Laser Pistol (GRA) right in the first town, its a first town gun. but you can put a +3 damage mod on it and then its pretty reasonable for a first gun.
Compliance regulator. with a crit build this can pretty easily stun lock something.
MF hyper breeder alpha. recharging assault rifle, suprisingly limited use since by the time you can afford it you probably have an RCW with plenty of ammo.
moving on to rifles.
Laser rifles. standard 3 mods, a scope for sniping, a splitter and a damage mod. the splitter means you can crit twice on any shot. pretty brutal sniping weapon.
advanced LAER - Breaks pretty quick, its slightly better than a Laser rifle for an unscoped rifle. its got really high listed damage, but I hadn't noticed much of a difference functionally. probably because its critical hit damage is basically non-existant.
Tri-beam laser GRA. its basically an energy shotgun with spread of .5 so you literally can use it at mid range and still kill stuff. chews thru ammo fast though.
Laser RCW. mainly good for its automatic-ness with no spread. and no recoil. an automatic weapon gets its crit chance divided by the number of shots per second. a laser gets a flat critical chance bonus. so laser automatics are incredibly accurate and crit far mor often than regular automatics.
Gatling laser/SPrtel Wood.
The Gatling with its higher rate of fire mixed with various perks and ED-E's +5 beam weapon damage its pretty brutal. I generally prefer the SPRTEL wood for its more ammo friendly variety and better at overcoming enemy DT.
The spread on both is nothing to write home about comparable to a CZ57 Avenger they spin up making me like them less. Don't have alot of experience with them but they don't dissapoint.
all in all I generally prefer the Tri-beam laser for laser killing things that need killing.
It's a hybrid Shotgun/Rifle. Good weapon all around.
With a little restraint and "equivalent exchange" you'll do well.
