How do I know if a mod is working?
I tried to install the "A World of Pain" mod cause I wanted more locations and stuff, but how do I actually know if it's working or not? I'm using that Nexus Mod Manager thing(which I've had a lot of trouble with in the past), and when I loaded up my game I didn't really see anything different...unless I need to make a new file to see the changes or something. But how would I get it to work correctly?

Open the Launcher and check the Data Files, is the mod ticked?

Yep, sure is. I actually...wasn't expecting it to be. Hah.
That said nothing in my game is different, as far as I can tell...

You should be aware that I don't use this mod, I'm just giving you the basic troubleshooting stuff with mods. Uh, from the readme

Q: NOTHING IS SHOWING UP AT ALL FROM AWOP.
A: You need to have Fallout New Vegas updated to the latest version to run AWOP. This is the only reason (other than incorrect installation) for *nothing* to show up.

EDIT: Are you using SKSE/MCM?

I JUST downloaded it, so it's definitely the most recent version, but I'm not sure what "SKSE/MCM" means.
there will be new ppl, wasteland heros etc, around most populated areas if its working
go to goodsprings, there should be 2-3 hanging around the prospector saloon
archive validation in tools if it is not working

♥♥♥♥, not SKSE (SKyrim Script Extender). What I meant was NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) and MCM (Mod Configuration Menu). Anyway, they're both optional for this mod but they let you mess with some settings.

You don't need to download them for this mod to work BUT your problem could just be that you are not looking at the right places rather than the mod being faulty. Also did you download anything else?

"[12/18/14]
We recommend that you temporarily discontinue use of AWOP - Balance and Cleanup v2.2 if you installed AWOP v5.2; at least until it is updated by the author. It is not currently compatible with our newest release, and as such breaks several AWOP quests.

FYI: mods/patches that edit AWOP's NPC dialog potentially break quests if not updated, since newly embedded scripting has been added to provide quest logging and tracking."

I actually think it's working now, I went to Goodsprings and there was some lady I'd never seen before, and when I talked to her she had no voice, and there was a "Goodsprings Sewer" which I know for sure wasn't there before.

(It's REALLY dark in there, by the way. Is it supposed to be that dark? Wow.)

The NPCs shouldn't be voiced and that's one of the dungeons. Remember,

"Don't die"

Have fun!

Couple more questions though - where do I..."start", exactly? Like I ran into that one person, and like two locations got added to my map, so I'm assuming I actually have to run around and find these people in order to get all 140 something locations added?
And also what's up with these wasteland heroes and vigilantes and why can't I talk to them? I wanted to make new friends. :(

all the locations are there, you just have to find them
there are new friends, but you have to find them
but its a world of pain, not friends remember...

Don't worry, explore the map and you'll find most of them (and then probably regret it ;P)

Do....do I want to know why?

AWOP has "pain" in its name for a reason. But don't wory, it just means that instead of becoming an invulnerable demigod at level 12, like in the normal game, you need to wait for level 16 if you want to breeze through it.
