Steam cloud sync problem - HELP
Hi guys,

I did a substantial amount of progress playing Fallout: New Vegas and every time I play it loads fine.

I launched the game today and a Steam Cloud error showed up saying
"Download to the Machine or Upload to the Steam Cloud". I clicked Download to the Machine and now I am very far behind from where I was. Is there a way to rechoose this option so I can pick Upload to the Steam Cloud or get my saved game back?

PLEASE help!!

The Steam cloud does not work well at all for New Vegas. I strongly recommend disabling the Cloud and just save to your pc. To disable the cloud saving click the Steam tab/settings/Cloud and uncheck Enable Steam Cloud.

Now all your saves will be in Documents/My Games/Fallout New Vegas/saves.

Are your saves in their folder?

C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\my games\FalloutNV\Saves

There 4 archives: autosave.fos, autosave.fos.bak, quicksave.fos and quicksave.fos.bak. Maybe they are my saves because the last modify date is before the accident today. What should I do?

First: Use more saves.
On one hand because the engine is old and instable and tends to crash a lot. And auto/quick saves not only may crash it instantly, but they can easily lead to corrupt cell data being stored, which will lead to additional problems.
On the other hand, because this is an RPG, and you only use one save in an RPG when you know it inside and out. Or maybe not even then.

Second: Check the Cloud folder on your computer for some other save files. They are in
..\steam\userdata\[user ID]\22380

I use more then 1 save, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Steam replaced them with for just 1 old save, that aparently was the one that was last saved in Steam Cloud. Btw, in the paste: ..\steam\userdata\[user ID]\22380 there are only one archive called remotecache.vdf and I don't know what I should do with it too ;(

That is the file that identifies your game. Then I don't know what could have happened to your cloud saves.

Make a copy of the autosave and quicksave files, then rename them and remove the .bak file extension and they should show up in the load menu.

Sadly it didn't worked : ( For what I understanded Steam downloaded from the cloud the file of the last time I saved on it and replaced it for my actual game. The only way I see is if steam have a backup of my actual save file yet

Did you ever find out how to fix this? I'm playing for the first time and just lost like 6 hours worth of progress because i click the download to machine button.
