Why cant i mod this weapon?

Okay, this has happened twice now and im unsure to why i cant mod my weapons. The first time it happened, i tried using a laser pistol with a laser pistol optics and it didnt work. This time im trying to use a plasma pistol with a plasma pistol mag accelerator.

Ive modded weapons like the hunting rifle and a 10mm before with no problem so im unsure why this wont work with energy weapons

The only thing i can think of is the GRA weapon types but im dont know how they work if im honest

You have to have GRA mods for GRA weapons and Vanilla mods for Vanilla weapons. Plus, unique named weapons can't be modded at all.

To clarify: unless you run weapon modification mods, you need a "Plasma Pistol (GRA)" or "Laser Pistol (GRA)" weapon to be able to put weapon modifications on them. The system isn't really that intuitive or easy to figure out, but essentially you need the "(GRA)" versions. As you may already figured it out, most of them are found in the Gun Runner's shop, or sometimes dropped in normal loot pool.
