Anyone else experience audio stuttering?
I have a lot of weird audio bugs in new vegas. I dont think it happened before but for some reason out of nowhere the game's audio, especially radio but ambient music as well, will stutter and have the broken record effect like its about to crash on fast travel, when I leave buildings sometimes and when doing the hacking minigame, it doesn't happen all the time but in my most recent playthrough it started happening a lot more after finishing dead money.

Anyone have a fix for this? I tried the Silent hill patch, setting new vegas to high priority at the task manager, increasing the audio cache and I've tried doing a fresh reinstall with no mods and it still happens.

Could be a codec issue, a driver issue… memory problems, disc reading problems… many things.
I usually advice doing a sound card driver re-install to reset the codecs and Stutter Remover for better memory handling.

I dont know... I do notice it gets worse the more I play even with the stutter remover and when I go back to old saves its better. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling my soundcard drivers as you said, I'll report back on whether or not it made a difference.

EDIT Okay so I reinstalled my nvidia audio drivers and it didn't seem to help too much. I'd bet its a memory issue because it gets worse the more I play and the game will stutter at times and it freezes up whenever I do the hacking game, causing the broken record effect. Its annoying but I can live with it. I might try some performance mods or something that'll help with save file bloating and such. EDIT 2 So messing with the new vegas stutter remover ini file actually helped a lot for me, not totally fixed but definiately helped. EDIT 3 turning on threaded audio in Fallout_default ini file totally fixed the problem. Anyone who gets a broken record effect with the audio should try this fix.

Sorry for necroing this thread but this was the solution that worked for me as well. Appreciated.

So... you mean "bMultiThreadAudio=1" inside the [Audio] section? Just trying to make sure, because it didn't work for me D:. I don't have any mod installed though

Yeah I think that's it. It's been a while since I've modded New Vegas but I'm pretty sure it was the BMultiThreadAudio.

changing "bMultiThreadAudio=0" to "bMultiThreadAudio=1" fixed all my audio stuttering, much appreciated!

Hey guys,
I recently had the same issue and going into the Fallout_default file and changing the bMultiThreadAudio=1 text line didn't work. Turns out it was because of my Bluetooth speaker; that is my speaker makes the audio stutter for some reason. What fixed it is that I didn't use it and just slapped on some earphones or just ran it with my normal laptop audio. Hope this helps anyone :)

What has worked two times for me is playing a song in spotify before pressing start game in the launcher. I've tried everything else posted here, but that's the only thing that has worked.

I haven't tried it many times, but it has worked every time I've tried it.

AYO LAD, changing bMultiThreadAudio from 0 to 1 is whats up indeed, thank you. my blood pressure is no longer rising whilst gaming. I feel so happy

Only got the stuttering on bluetooth audio devices. Did the Spotify trick mentioned and it worked. Thanks!

SO. I am absolutely stunned. Nothing, NOTHING else worked, but this spotify trick. Turning on multithreading, trying different bluetooth headphones, installing fixes, nothing, BUT this stupid spotify trick. What the ♥♥♥♥ is up with that? How can a developer make such a legendary AND buggy game that the only fix is opening up SPOTIFY?
