Any tips on how to get this achievement? The alarms always activates the second I was about to use the elevator. I'm using a stealth boy and have about 80 sneak. Carrying only 1 gold bar. Tried both the short way and the long way (back tracking) to the same result.

1000+ hours played and even I have never managed to dupe Elijah. Somehow he always sees me and I have to shoot him.

Heh, funny, it was my first DM end achievement. You need to lay low in sneak mode at the far end of the vault entrance, at the force field that is further away from it. When you see him passing by at the opposite end, you need to wait 2-3 seconds then start running/walking straight to the elevator. You may need to practise the timing since the force field may pop up in front of you.
This is the method, by the way, of getting all the loot from the vault without cheating.

The two times I've done DM, I crouch behind the vault door[outside] and wait for him to enter. Then just close the door, locking him inside.

I do it the long way. going around left of the turret.

though roleplaying I just shoot him so I get his loot and am sure he's dead.

Not really one to make people suffer. if I want him dead, I'll kill him, not lock him in the sierra madre vault to slowly starve
