That seems like a very drastic description of what is in essence five clicks.
At any rate, they are correct though, the two engines are literally the exact same. The only difference is in the preconfigured default settings they start with.

I've been meaning to replay BG1 (I mean Borderlands 1) as it has been years but I honestly don't remember *any* issues with it -- not saying they didn't exist, but that such didn't stand out.
I'm thinking back then I had a 250 GTS GPU (may-be 460) and Vista -- of course how it runs on modern hardware might be a bit different. Still, I do recall smooth co-op even. Just FYI.
