Nightstalkers...WTF???
If I get hit, and take Antivenom, that cures the bite, right? But does it also have a 'lasting effect'? I mean, these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attack in packs, so I need to know that taking the antivenom will protect me against all the bites I'm gonna get from other pack members.

SOMEONE please give me a workable strategy for these bastards. By far the worst beastie I've encountered so far, and I'm only playing on Normal (my first run).

BTW...I'm at level 12, and I realize that the Tourniquet is a must-have, but where do I find freakin' surgical tubing? I've only got 6 right now, and I bought 2 of those. No one seems to have it, and I'm sure not finding enough by scavenging.

Thanks

The worst so far. Can't wait to see your reaction to cazadors and deathclaws

Taking antivenom cures all bites, but doesn't cure a bite if it is taken before being bitten.

OWB gives you a perk that makes you completely immune to poison, and adds 1 STR to boot.

So... go do OWB I guess.

You just gotta not get hit.

Right at the start, too...oddly enough, it's also the best place I've seen for Surgical Tubing so far, since it's a common drop right now from the trauma suits.

I appreciate all the advice given...thanks. BUT...I need to hear from you guys on how YOU deal with a freakin' PACK of these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ comming at you. I mean, I assume that since I'm running into them, there must be a viable way to survive them. Deathclaws, Giant Radscorpions, even Cazadores don't frighten me, since I know how to deal with them (even tho I haven't run into Cazadores yet, I already got a tip that I think is solid).

But these Nightstalkers...the only 'tip' I've gotten so far is to have a ton of Tourniquets in my inventory, and like I said, I've only manged to obtain 6 Surgical Tubing so far, and I've been looking HARD for them.

SO...any other advice?
Go to OWB, get the perk that makes you immune to poison, keep some Doctor's Bags because tanking the remaining damage will still hurt your limbs.

That's exactly what I've been doing in OWB, which is where I am now, trying to get the last two skill book recipes from X-13.

Take theme from a distance, also have a companion.

well i don't think you can be multiple poisoned so if 6 are attacking you you can be poisoned, but not 6 times at the same time.

Fight them, don't heal the poison until they are all dead, use stims or healing to keep health up, then after they are all dead cure your poison. That way you aren't just wasting cures and then get poisoned again. There are some foods and such that give poison resist up to 85% i think, but if your getting hit a bunch of times chances are you still will be poisoned.

Thats what I do. I usually throw 1 grenade if they are in a bunch (you won't be able to throw more since they move fast) then start killing them as fast as possible while falling back, usually with an automatic close range weapon of some type. Use the stims and healing items to stay alive, and once they are all dead and can't poison you any more, then cure yourself.

back pedalling with a riot shotgun works (especially if yu have the shotgun perks), or spot them first and thin the pack out from a distance so you don't get mobbed, or sneak around them, or get up on top of something that they can't get to and shoot down on them

AMR with HE ammo or Dinner Bell with coin shot.

Use a companion,( ED-E is a nice early companion) VATS and be sure to have a decent gun with the corresponding skill decently leveled. Reading a magazine and having a weapon in high condition is very helpful too.

Good early game guns can be Lucky, Maria or That Gun.

Once you manage to grab the Abilene Le Kid's BB Gun, use that a lot in stealth. By far one of the best guns in the game.

If you feel the need to fight them (for some reason), then take 1 Med-X and 1 Psycho or 1 Slasher and go to town on them. Only AFTER you've killed them, take the antivenom. Take close attention during the fight to your health and take a stimpack if it drops below 25%. Any food or drink you have, take them if you are dropping low on health. Never abuse stims during a fight. Always use the stims until you have about 70% of your total health as food and drink will restore the rest and thus an extra stim would prove useless. (Avoid alcohol, that's one of the worse drink you can take unless you have Cass as a companion)

Now THAT'S all some great advice...thanks guys. Exactly what I was looking for.

You mention several named weapons that are "early game"...I'm at level 12, but I've been spending a lot of time scavenging, exploring, grinding, etc. rather than doing quests per se, so I'm not that far into the MQ. I just completed "Booted" (that's where I ran into the 2 packs of Nightstalkers and got totally owned), but I haven't even gotten to Novac yet for "They Went That-a way". I've been using my start-up loadout (from the various stash dlc), and the Varmint Rifle, with Dynamite and Powder Charges as my explosive weapons. Time to upgrade, eh?

Regarding OWB, it was suggested to me that I try to complete the dlc in order of release, since there apparently is some kind of related storyline. So that means I need to do DM, then HH, before tackling OWB. My problem is that I took Logans Loophole as a trait at character creation on the (bad?) advice of a guide I read. But the guide said I simply needed to complete OWB prior to reaching level 30, and I would be given the opportunity to reset my traits/stats and drop Logan for something else. Is this correct?

And any recommedations about what level I should be at, as well as any "must have" perks, skills, equipment for starting DM would be appreciated. I'm at 12 now, and I'm thinking that I'll tackle DM at around 16, so I have a little time to work on my character if there's something I need to/should do prior to DM.

Thanks again for all the great tips.

Nightstalkers have an attack delay so normally just backing up and swinging a melee weapon can kill then without you get hit.
