Maybe I should put some antidotes in her inventory, though I have a feeling it wouldn't help much.
Maybe my 'tactics' with Boone sucked but I always got him killed.... mostly by cazadores.
But many times his AI fails and he runs up to the enemy's face to "snipe" them. It often happens at the rocky areas where the NPC pathfinding is terrible as it is (this is why it is actually dead easy to go north from Goodsprings: if you can find a few good ledges, the cazadors cannot even find the way up there, so their only hope is a random collision glitch connected to melee weapons that makes them teleport next to you).
Could it be the loyalty perk? And the armor I gave her?
But I seriously doubt simple combat armor would withstand two deathclaws.
10 charisma = 50% greater damage and armor.
loyalty = 50% DR when your hps are below 1/2
makes for a very tough follower if you do it right.
It's just been so long since last time. I remember the game, but my memory is a bit cheesy, smelly, old and full of holes. I don't remember if there is a party limit. Is it just one at a time or can you have all the fun with more than one?
Could be, I think difficulty affects damage dealt by all, PC, NPC, and creature alike. I play on normal.
Oh, right, sometimes I totally forget you can give companions armor. xD And yeah, as EolSunder said, your Charisma buffs companions as well.
Also, you could be a higher level, while mobs scale with the PC's level, they don't scale with every level you gain, they spawn in tiers, like, say, the lowest tier will be a certain batch of PC levels, when you reach the next level past that the next tier will spawn instead, and so on, so you might be running into the situation where you're near the top of your current tier and as a result are fairly powerful, before the next tier spawns.
Or maybe Val becomes crazy powerful at high levels, I don't know. xD
Seriously, Ballistic Fists man.
