....Veronica
Uh, not to hate on this character but... isn't she WAY too powerful?

She single-handedly beat up TWO deathclaws by herself when I played this morning. Holy crud, Veronica, what are you made of? I mean, a lot of the other companions had many weaknesses, but Veronica just takes hits that would make Chuck Norris squeal. The game was quite challenging right up until I met her.

Nah, she's not that overpowered, at least at the point in the game I am at. And then there's Cazadors, which wreck her. >_> Granted, those wreck lots of folks if they get into melee range, stupid mutant wasps. I hate those things so much.

Maybe I should put some antidotes in her inventory, though I have a feeling it wouldn't help much.

Maybe my 'tactics' with Boone sucked but I always got him killed.... mostly by cazadores.

might be the difficulty. I was playing on hard and she one-shotted cazadores, wtf.

Boone is a hit or miss… in a few sense of the phrase. When his limited AI works, he can pot-shot enemies out of rendering range. This of course usually means he can casually alert every enemy in a cell, who will naturally all gang up on you for a little party. It is especially fun when he antagonises a deathclaw pack, a Legion hit squad and a group of fiends near the quarry train station. While you are in sneak mode, by the way.
But many times his AI fails and he runs up to the enemy's face to "snipe" them. It often happens at the rocky areas where the NPC pathfinding is terrible as it is (this is why it is actually dead easy to go north from Goodsprings: if you can find a few good ledges, the cazadors cannot even find the way up there, so their only hope is a random collision glitch connected to melee weapons that makes them teleport next to you).

Veronica is made out of steel, and burlap sacks.
That's odd, because for me Veronica is always the first to go down. She charges head on intio a crowd of raiders, and is immediately knocked out.

Could it be the loyalty perk? And the armor I gave her?

But I seriously doubt simple combat armor would withstand two deathclaws.

It all depends on your charisma and perks i guess, your followers are pretty nice but you can make them really strong with high charisma and loyalty, etc. Plus depends on the difficulty. On lower difficulties sure they can probably wipe the map of anything.

10 charisma = 50% greater damage and armor.
loyalty = 50% DR when your hps are below 1/2

makes for a very tough follower if you do it right.

She's a bit like Rex, that is so say, she distracts enemies for about 5 seconds before dying.
It all sounds bloody hilarious. Great comments. :D

It's just been so long since last time. I remember the game, but my memory is a bit cheesy, smelly, old and full of holes. I don't remember if there is a party limit. Is it just one at a time or can you have all the fun with more than one?
EolSunder Jun 25, 2015 @ 4:34am
Normally its restricted to 2 members, I think a humanoid companion and an animal companion. So normally you can't take 2 people, but you can take boone and rex, or boone and ed-e, etc but not boone and veronica. There are ways of course to work around this and get all companions, you can just google it and you'll be able to find it.

Could be, I think difficulty affects damage dealt by all, PC, NPC, and creature alike. I play on normal.

Oh, right, sometimes I totally forget you can give companions armor. xD And yeah, as EolSunder said, your Charisma buffs companions as well.

Also, you could be a higher level, while mobs scale with the PC's level, they don't scale with every level you gain, they spawn in tiers, like, say, the lowest tier will be a certain batch of PC levels, when you reach the next level past that the next tier will spawn instead, and so on, so you might be running into the situation where you're near the top of your current tier and as a result are fairly powerful, before the next tier spawns.

Or maybe Val becomes crazy powerful at high levels, I don't know. xD

Unarmed is just pretty OP, so long as you can hit first.

Seriously, Ballistic Fists man.
GooglyMoogly! Jun 25, 2015 @ 2:09pm
Not really. She's close combat so what she has in sheer power, she lacks in mobility.
