Out of Memory
My game is constantly crashing and showing the Out of Memory error message despite me having the 4gb mod and only 35 mods running, some of which are small cosmetic changes. Anyone know how to fix this?

video card memory possibly?

My video card has 1696 mbs of memory. I doubt that the mods take up more space than that

could it be the autosaving? I heard autosaves cause memory leak, one of the reasons I turned it off?

Not sure. I've played over 190 hours in the game, and there was no crashing until I started pumping the game full of mods, so that's unlikely.

Most likely a mod issue. Either one of the scripts is causing memory leak, or you indeed run out of memory because graphics. No matter how much VRAM you have.

Too many mods for that amount of VRAM.

So what would be the max number for the VRAM?

well texture packs and some visual enhancement mods take up a lot of VRAM very quickly. that would be the first things to uninstall to try to alliviate your issue.also i have to ask if you run the 4GB mod correctly. if you get the vanilla startup screen( shows NCR ranger with pistol and gives options for play game, options, data something and a couple other i dont rember exactly) then most likley the vanilla launcher ran without the 4 GB script. it should say loading game or jump straight to the game when it works properly.

also forgot to mention that if you do get that launcher window, the just close it and then try the 4GB exe again until you dont.

Just a small note: All the crashing seems to happen in Freeside. The rest of the wasteland is quite stable.

Maybe you have any mod that alters freeside?

Are you using the NV Anti-Crash mod? Are you using any intensive world overhauls or texture replacements?

Freeside Open and The Strip Open mods, while great and cool, are pretty unstable and will drop frames or stutter on all but the most powerful rigs when entering or attempting to load the next 'open' section of the the world. I used to use them a lot but the instability and stuttering is just too much now.

Alright. I will try disabling Freeside Open. I already have NV Anti Crash.

Freeside Open is an engine killer. It requires so much resources that a single non-HD texture replacer can fill up the available memory space and run out before loading in that world cell. The same problem with the Strip, it was chopped up and decreased in size because the engine was utterly incapable of handling it.
