No sound at all
I recently bought Fallout NV on my PC, I had previously only played it on Xbox. After downloading and running it, I have no sound at all in the game. It runs fine visually, but there is no sound output whatsoever. The launcher title screen with "Play", "Options", "Data FIles", etc. has perfect sound and works fine. I have tried multiple things for the sound including the K-Lite method, the Silent Hill fix which have not worked at all. I also tried AC3 but cannot find a tutorial on how to work it. I am running Windows 8. If anyone can help this would be greatly appreciated.

I've been having the same problem for quiet a while now and I still can't find a fix.

Reinstall the sound card's drivers. If possible, use the one it came with, or get it straight from the manufacturer's site. This will overwrite the default codecs and the sound will work again.

Bump - Any fix found for this? Sound drivers didn't do it for me

Set speaker config in Windows Control Panel to 2.0 stereo.
If you use FFDShow, blacklist Falloutnv.exe: using those codecs disables all sound.
If you gave AC3Filter, set the sound device to Wave Output or vice versa. Although sometimes AC3Filter sometimes by itself kills sound.

I have this problem also and I do not understand how to fix it. I do not know what you mean by your short "set speaker config in Windows Control Panel to 2.0 stereo."

I don't have speakers, I have a headset and my PC has no speakers built in. I can't configure my headset like this. Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma

Ah, that puts it in another light. The drivers you installed for the Razer are the problem. Sadly, the last time someone with a Razer headset had this issue, the solution was to remove the drivers and use it as a generic stereo headphone in Windows.

New Vegas was working with this headset for months, until one day when I started it up. I've tried uninstalling all my mods, reinstalling, verifying my cache, load order editing... I just want to play New Vegas.

Then check driver updates, namely if Windows installed some new drivers for you. Win10 does it by default, it has to be turned off to get the control of your own drivers back.
Also try to disable all other audio output devices. New Vegas regularly tried to output audio on the rear jack for me, instead of using the front one.

I don't use W10, it caused me blue screens of death which I couldn't fix, so I downgraded back to 8.1 which I hate. I don't have any driver updates that I need to install, or any that I need to roll back it would seem.

Any new codec installs recently? There is a bit simplistic, but often-working method when it comes to NV audio problems of simply reinstalling your sound card (or more commonly, the on-board audio chipset) and maybe the headset drivers. This resets codec priority.

I don't believe I've installed any codecs recently...

was this ever fixed?

Yes and I was so dumb I had forgotten about the Volume Mixer because it had been refusing to open for a month so I hadn't used it since I turned down the volume on the game, and I'm an idiot.
