Terminal Hacking Guide/Strategy?

So I have just realized how stuipid the hacking in this game really is and knowing Bethesda i'm sure that there is a better way to hack a terminal then just guessing randomly and hoping you get the right word, so if someone could tell me if there actually is one or if i'm just stuck screaming furiously at my monitor when i I fail a hack.

I like the hacking mini-game. When they say you have 4/7 right, it's the same letter in the same space. Waiting, and wearing would be 4/7, the w's and the ing, the A's are in a different spot so they don't count. I guess with the ing first (seems like this is half of them), then there should be enough to narrow it down from there in two more guesses.

It's just logic. If clicking on HELLO tells me that there's 1 correct character, then I know that MEZZO can't be correct either as there's two letters in that which matches HELLO.

You can remove duds by checking each line for parantheses. If a line has both an opening and closing paranthesis in that order and of the same type, you can click it and remove an incorrect word. It will also refill your "allowance" basically resetting your number of wrong guesses. This can only happen once though.

Even knowing all this, the game still sucks and I far too often find myself clicking on words without aim and exiting and reopening the console if I get it wrong. I really should mod that sh*tty minigame away.

It's not about guessing randomly. Look for letter patterns and use that to predict the solution.
If several words end in "ing" then click one of them and see if there is a match. If not then you have eliminated those words... continue looking for patterns until you've eliminated all but one. If you can't be sure then either take a gamble and guess or start over.

It is and it isn't.

sometimes guessing randomly is quickest.
guess 3 times, try to narrow it down.
then select the brackets to eliminate options and refresh your allowances.

then solve the puzzle.

you look at the choices, if a large number end in ING, go ahead and pick one, and if it has less than 3 you can throw all the ING ending choices out. or TION, or TED or sometihng.

If you were really careful you could narrow down the choices every time, but I don't usually bother. I just select 3, making note of trends, and then burn the brackets and usually solve the puzzle.

there is a mod that fix this in diffrent ways. 1 word 4 word 8 words possibilitys , no more random missguide logic. THE LESSER SKILL YOU HAVE IN THIS THE MORE UNLOGIC RESULT YOU WILL GET. ( capital letter on purpose ) + the level on diffculty on the terminal same as lockpick

always a good idea to lockpick first and then hack the terminal for double bonus


( to be total clear unlogic result is not mastermind, the terminal will give falsh word like swap around work with a new word on the screen and cheat on you, with it ) = your iq / skill . your charecter is to stupid to solve this. you're feed with wrong information by the terminal

there are 2 good video on youtube. if you cant understand the game rules inside the pipboy
there is no way in hell you can understand it here. its like all new game we have never seen before, if we dont get it. we dont... even i did not get it. after the videos all make better sense after the explanations, and there was still small things they did not explan but the main game understanding was there and i start to win games alot better after that.

What's so difficult in caravan? It is on par with pazaak in complexity, and easier than triple triad.

sorry dude card game is old and outdate only mainsteam top titles is what people know,

and if you dont play card games at all , the this tiltles is unknown for you, canasta , royal big casio . most know little casio

and ofc most know poker and west ( but people forget there are so many diffrent poker also )

and most kids today dont play card games at all. they are outdate in kids world today unless they can play it on a computer or in a game...lol

Really? You're from Denmark like me and where I live we've played cards like crazy. Different region or social status I guess. I even managed to get a few people to play caravan with me.

yeah really, how come you think rest of the world does that. people have new choise today that was not there then i was born. and maybe you dont see it but this is a seen in a context

and dont forget denmark is not rest of the world and you will soon discover each country has own favorit games

I never fail a hack or lockpick because (thanks to some bad coding) if you exit the Terminal or lockpick before you use the last chance to guess right, or before the bobby pin breaks, you can try again from the start.
I found the harder terminals to be quite easy as most of the time the word used is on 2 seperate lines. As for lock picking I found a clever system to determine which side is the correct side by placing the pin half way from starting position and horizontal, starting on one side then the other, and seeing which side moves slightly farther.
