Merchant Inventory
So I know you can wait 3 days (72 hours) to get the merchants more caps etc... but... I'm wondering if there is a way to make them truely "reset" and get rid of the 8,000,000 (jk) items I've already sold them.

It's becoming annoying to have to scroll through a vast field of Legion armors and Machetes that I've sold the vendors.

I'm actually trying to play through without cheating for caps and you gotta sell a LOT of stuff to get the 22,000+ caps for some GRA weapons.

No, perhaps I wasn't clear... waiting the 72 hour restocking period does not get rid of items you sold them. It simply adds more ammo & caps.

I want to know how to get the restock to clear out old items that have been sold to them.

Most vendors only show items in their hidden vendor inventory. Some vendors, like Contreras, show items in their personal inventory. In fact, he will actually equip items you sell him. You can play dress up with Contreras by selling him various armors and weapons. I've seen him equip a centurion helmet, a minigun, and T45 power armor.

Sometimes the items get cleared, but I think that is a bug. This system is supposed to prevent you from selling unique things and let them get lost forever.
Well, I do know that from testing the merchant in Novac is still showing every item I've ever sold him. As are the merchants in Goodsprings and Mojave Outpost.... =/
