Grenade throwing bug?
I've been having this issue. Every time I throw a grenade, be it 'free aim' or through VATS (obviously targeting something), it always falls maybe 1-2 meters in front of me.

I'm assuming this is a bug. Has anyone else experienced this and/or know how to fix it?

I know with project nevada there is option to make thrown items be affected by your strength. I do not know if you have it though so if you're playing without any mods then no I never heard of a bug like that.

Even with PN, they fly further. Not to mention that Havok physics treat all thrown items as if they are made of weightless rubber.
OP, if you grab an item and if you move the mouse around like a madman, then release it, how far does it fall? Is it the same as with the grenades? Because if yes, then something changed the global physics settings or you are running over 60 fps.

I had a strength of 1 on one playthrough and my PC was unable to lob any type of projectile more than a few meters but you may be right though since I do believe it was able to go further than 1-2 meters.

With the exception of the AntiCrash mod http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/? i have nothing else other than vanilla New Vegas - not even any of the DLCs (yet).

I'm playing with a controller and to be honest I had forgotten i could pick up things and move them around. I say forgotten, because I played Fallout 3 many years ago (but with keyboard and mouse at the time). Not quite sure how to do it on a controller but I'll give it a try. However, at any rate this shouldn't be that relevant, because like I said, even using VATS and targetting an enemy at 98% chance of success, the grenade invariable falls on my feet and blows my limbs instead.

VATS and grenades were never a working mix to begin with. Try it outside VATS.

As I stated in the beginning, this happens both in 'free aim' and VATS.

Also, grenades always worked fine in VATS on Fallout 3. There is no logical reason for them to fall at my feet even when using it.

Yeah, this is why I asked to do a free grab experiment. Although it'd be better with a kb+m so you can, you know, actually turn faster than half a degree a year. I just want to check if the momentum is bad for all small items or just grenades.

Whatever that was, it fixed itself. I haven't even restarted the game.

The grenade problem happened in Lucky's 38 Penthouse floor (and I tried with maybe 8-10 grenades), but when i tried throwing a grenade in the suite floor it worked fine again. Calling it a bug.

Hold the throw key down for a second or two.

I know this thread is 8 years old but I couldn't find this mentioned anywhere else. Encountered the same bug ALSO only in the lucky 38 penthouse .

Probably some rare bug in the lucky 38 penthouse area specifically since I haven't found anyone else bring up this bug.

I think it's because the upper part of the penthouse cell is too high up for the game to handle the grenade physics properly. You'll notice that they work properly in the cocktail lounge level.

The VATS grenade range is a different bug with timescales and perks I think.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
