Toggle aim
I always use middle-mouse to aim down sights in shooters. This is not a convenient key to hold down while making precision mouse movements. How do I set it to toggle, so I can actually shoot?

Why don't you set it to a key that's convenient to hold down, like Q, T, F, or shift?

There is no such thing. No key is convenient to hold down. Toggle offers far more control and comfort than holding a key.

There is no toggle in New Vegas as far as I know.

If you're not even willing to consider people's advice, why did you even bother coming here asking for it? I personally use my R key for aiming, it's not inconvenient at all.

I'm not asking for advice on which key to use. I use middle mouse in every other shooter, because every other shooter on Earth allows toggle-aiming.

What I'm asking is whether it's possible. A good UI doesn't demand that the player adapt to it.

A mod is fine too, as long as it doesn't come with a bunch of other features I don't want. I can't be the only person bothered by this.

But this isn't a shooter, it's an Action/RPG.

A good player adapts to the game.

It's the first time I've ever seen anyone complain about it. So yes, I guess you are.

The only key toggle is using caps lock to switch between always run and walk.

1) This is not a shooter.
2) No, it was not implemented in the vanilla game. Use that plug-in Ladez made.
3) This is not a good UI, this is a console UI made by people who couldn't design a good UI even for mouse and keyboard back then, let alone an outdated, backward stick with only a few buttons and no precision movement whatsoever.

Are we talking Bethesda or Obsidian? One thing I can say about both is I've never had problems with their UIs...

I use arrow keys to move. Then you have Ctrl, Shift, Num 0, Num 1, and Num 4 at very easy access. And you can set other Num keys for lesser used commands.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
