Mercy Kill?
Hi,
I was in Nipton when the Khans destroyed everything and crucified the powder gangers. I thought that I would try and kill the powder gangers so they didn't starve or what not. So I shot them and noticed I got no reputation change, is this because it was like 'mercy killing' or what?

It's more of "your call". I actually prefer it when games don't have a karma system (Not like the karma means much in this game anyway) because it's up to you what is "good" or "evil". Hey, no one is going to judge you for what you do.

The nice thing about NV is that the karma system doesn't actually effect anything. Its a holdover from FO3 but it doesn't have any in-game affects (outside of an annoying message pop-up).

I remember in FO3 grinding for negative karma to get Jericho in megaton before I blew it up!
Good times.

The crucified actors aren't really "people" and they don't belong to any faction. There is a mod that remedies that and enables you to either try to rescue them (need a stimpak or super stimpak, may fail miserably if medicine skill is low) or mercy-kill them with morphine (Med-X) for a little XP and a small karma reward.
it wasnt the Khan's it was the Legion

Indeed as a side note, it was Vulpes from Caesar's Legion who went to Nipton and held a lottery to decide who would live or die. The Great Khans aren't involved in it. While it indeed is mercy killing, because they actually don't really belong to the Powder Gangers, you won't gain or lose Karma. But the Karma system in NV doesn't really affect anything btw.

It only affects whether Cass will stay with you. If its really low she will leave after a few warnings to improve.
