NVAC also causes additional crashing at this point - all the crashes it was capable of preventing are now fixed in other stability mods. The only thing it really does these days is conflict with other things.
I would recommend follow the Viva New Vegas guide instead of that Steam guide. It's better researched by people with much more expertise.
You're not the only one, somehow tons of people still end up with NVSR - at this point, Nexus should just take it down.
