Use them ( + 2 scrap metal which are everywhere ) to craft weapon repair kits
And use said kits to repair expensive weapons before selling them.
Miniguns, super sledges, trail carbines, etc. They sell for 3k to 6k each.
If you're already rolling in caps nevermind.
You'll be Rolling in Caps when you get around to maxing barter anyways, and weapon repair kits are generally a pain to make after you get Jury rigging.
Only Pick up Junk with intent to Sell. Only pick up craft goods with intent to craft a specific thing usually.
there are a few rare crafting items you might want to hold on to.
Pinyon nuts for example are useful for crafting dessert salad. which I carry around it weighs pretty little and heals for a significant amount. as well as lowering FOD and H20 needs.
Cave Fungus... is given to you alot in the DLC, but you need it to make hydra or healing poultices.
Weapon repair kits the pieces are given to you in Old world blues, (the sink is practically a Weapon repair kit factory) and Dead money gives them to you for 20 Chips each.
Would not bother crafting them, I'd just get a bunch of cigarette boxes and use the dead money vending machine. basically repairing my weapon with a carton of cigarettes (or after dead money it gives you thousands of chips every in game day.)
Ammo is crafted from ammo.
But it is very fun to make a specialized run where you can actually use all those misc items and much is worthwhile like with a logans loophole hardcore run, taking advantage of EOT items (effect over time), crafting temp skill books which last a very long time, food and drink items providing great benefits, etc.
But yeah, it really does depend on what you are wanting to do and need though... so alot of the misc items could be useful to one person but not so useful to the other person.
So, to me? The five I mentioned are highly useful to me.
