Vault 34 is horrible!
Seriously it's not even fun for me! I've spent 300 caps on radiation poising and have gone back there like 4 times but it's so damned frustrating. The glowing vault security ghouls are way OP and sometimes they even respawn! And on top of everything else, you have the radiation meter that's basically just a timer that says when ur done. Does anyone else agree?

It's a high-risk speed gauntlet that requires you to be prepared, but the rewards are good.

Take lots of Rad-X and Radaways with you. I usually wait until i get a stockpile of 40-50 before I do that vault.

Hotkey armor and an (advanced) radiation suit, use Rad-X. Save it till you're leveled up a bit more. Throw grenades/explosives around every corner. Lay mines, alert some ghouls and fall back, leaving the mines to do the work.

Vault 34 is a modern incarnation of the old Glow from fallout 1.

I'm only level 14. Maybe I'll finish it later. I hope they don't respawn altogether.
I think once you've fully cleared out Vault 34 the ghouls stop spawning. You can definitely do it at level 14 if you really want to but its not a good idea. Basically bring all the rad away and rad-x, get a powerful gun, maybe "that gun" or the "AER-14" and wear big armor. Also, bring companions if you're not in hard core or don't care about dead companions in hardcore.

Still less dangerous than The Glow. No computer to lose in chess to and instantly die when you close the chat dialog.
Bruh I cleared it on lvl 8, just check the medical area for Rad-Away and get a shotgun.

Do keep in mind that a highly focused, umptieth playthrough level 8 char can be far more effective that an all-over-the-map first timer on level 14.

Every time I play FNV:

Start game.
Move north.
Get to Chances map for FT.
Reach 188 and Gun Runners.
Straight to Vault 34
Get All American
WIN

Yes Awesomer Vault 34 is horrible! But it has a BIG payoff in guns, energy and explosive weaponry that makes it all worthwhile when you finally crack the Armory! You must do 2 things to get there: first do what others suggest and stock up on lots of Rad X and Radaway, and second don't let the radiation intimidate and cloud your thinking (the local map is pretty useless and you will have to be alert to where you are and where you've been to navigate successfully).

Another bright spot is that once you've mastered Vault 34 in one game you can have a grand blast 'Ghoul Shoot-A-Thon' in subsequent games. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

Vault 34 is indeed challenging. I highly recommend to specialize in medicine in order to counter the radiation (bring plenty of Radaway and Rad-X). I believe some forms of Power Armor can greatly help (for radiation resistance and to help fight the feral ghouls).

Since the vault itself is enclosed, I usually bring an unarmed or a melee weapon. Oh and, be sure you have the Rebreather (you can get it from the Boomers) since some parts of the vault are submerged under water.

I'm not sure what TC is doing wrong.

I remember when I did Vault 34 first time, I kept getting lost because I didn't find the door on the other side of the med bay as I recall.

Gotten better at navigating Fallout 3D games since though.

The combat.... at level 14 shouldn't be that bad. Ghouls DO NOT respawn.

they spawn in behind you when you trigger certain things. should be apparent to you by the second time. I generally walk around in Sneak mode. when it goes from HIDDEN to CAUTION or DANGER i know something has spawned in behind me.

Once you eat 25 rad away you get a perk which makes your Rad-X and Rad-Away more effective.

for 300 caps you should be able to have purchased like 12 rad away? at level 14 in my games that was like 1400 rad removal without the perk. More medicine skill helps, but the perk is a massive jump.

you can also make fiery purgatives. jalapenos Vodka and horsenettle.

the combat by level 14 you should have a weapon skill you are focusing in. I generally do Lasers. Things with DT you want to use better DT piercing ammo for, check to see if they have a shield icon when you shoot them. use the DT ammo for them. things that don't have a shield ICON you want JHP ammo for.

if you are a guns user thats Hand Load Perk.

use a hunting rifle with AP ammo on things with DT and a 9mm SMG with JHP ammo (and grunt perk) on things without DT.

also Drugs like Psycho, Slasher and Med-X.

True, I did have a level 27 character before I restarted and decided to YOLO it.
AND if you have GRA get Maria or Gehenna then murder the entire vault.
