DarnUI Font Problems
So... I've been modding for quite a while now and I have never come across this problem, whenever I open Fallout New Vegas the DarnUI Fonts are being used, but the sizes, and the little head in the corner are not, does anyone know how to fix my problem?

You've overwritten DarnUI files when installing other UI mods. Reinstall DarnUI and overwrite everything, then use UIO (User Interface Organizer) for automatic compatibility with other UI mods.

Either that or archive invalidation is not in effect.

use the mod "user interface organizer" and install it right after darnui. UIO stabalizes all hud mods and you never have to tweak anything. Just install it and it will do the rest.

DarnUI is the only thing in my load order :\ And I use FOMM so Archive Invalidation is always in affect

There are some tweaks you need to make to your .ini file if I remember correctly - for Darn UI to work properly.

I did all the ini tweaks for the Prefs, Default, and regular .ini files :\

Still, large font in DarnUI means the INI edits are not working.

Ah yes the fabled talgaby, do you have any idea why the .ini edits aren't working? They aren't set to read only in the properties.

If you have UIO, then it can be the source of the problem. To my knowledge, it is an injector, so it overwrites anything the game finds in the INI. Try to mess around with uninstalling and reinstalling it.

The launcher must be putting the fonts back to defaults. You could put the darn ui font edits in fallout_default.ini in the game's folder to stop it from doing that. You can just back up the file before you make changes or put ; in front of the default font lines if you want to go back to them later. I personally use the classic fallout font with darn ui, though some of the special characters with a ~ above them just come out as a x like symbol.

UIO can be installed whenever.

So, no other UI mods then? They don't always come with a plugin.

No. You need to turn it on. If it's turned on already, please try turning it off and back on again.

The INI edit is for replacing vanilla fonts with DarN's, which has successfully happened unless OP lied in his first post.

Not neccessarily, and OP said that DarN's fonts shows up in-game, so his INI edit is in fact working.

What...?

They are working, evidenced by the DarN fonts being in your game. Again, either you've overwritten one of DarN's menu files, archive invalidation is not in effect, you installed the menu files in a wrong location, or you didn't install the menu files at all.

I was checking the folder and it is set to read only, but it doesn't allow me to unset it from that.
talgaby Aug 10, 2016 @ 10:45pm
It should. Unless you don't have enough NTFS permissions.
swingers swing Aug 11, 2016 @ 6:20am
Well, I did recently upgrade to Windows 10 so did that maybe change the permissions?
talgaby Aug 11, 2016 @ 6:24am
It almost most definitely did. The one in Documents\My Games is practically given, because even if you have the exact same user name as on the old Windows, it should have a brand new ID for the user in relation to the permissions. The update process changes the permissions for most folders, but this one we know is left out, so you have to re-add yourself with full permissions.

Oh ok, wow such a simple task can fix so many problems lol
