"I fought the Law" quest questions
I recently went into the NCRCF facility and cleared it of the Powder Gangers. However, I didn't know that there was a quest that allowed you to retake it with NCR assistance, which is important, since I'm trying to get on the NCR's good side. I have a save-point right before I go into the final building that has Eddie, but since I'm already vilified by the Gangers I can't start the quest. It seems like I'll just have to move on, but does anyone have any suggestions for how I could still do the "I fought the law" quest?

Take out everyone in the building except Eddie. Use stealth kills. Exit the building, wait 72 in-game hours and go back in.
Put on a Powder Ganger armour and stand in the door frame to his office. Rush in and talk to him. If you wear the faction armour he will be friendly at first and you can get the quest. Run like hell out of there since he will recognise you and turn hostile.
Do this every time you go back to him (three times overall), then you get the "snoop around Primm" part, where you can get the plans and betray Eddie.

Talgaby's way will work. That said, there are enough ways to get rep with NCR that you can be idolized 5x over, so I wouldn't worry too much about missing this one.

Actually if I think I understand what you talking about, if you first go to the powder gangers and do the first two quests that eddie gives you and then go back for a third, the third quest is to find out if there is an NCR offensive against them. You then can go to primm speak to the old dude and he will tell you something about it, which will then let you goto the ncr near primm and ask them if they going to attck the prison, you can pick up the quest there. He sends you to meet someone on the hill next to the prison, and then all hell breaks loose.

That is the way of the quest indeed. It's best to skip the Goodsprings quest until you've done this one. That way your rep with the Powder Gangers is neutral and you can just walk right in. Slaughter them later.

You can do the Goodsprings quest, all you have to make sure is that you don't kill any of the attackers. As long as the townsfolk are doing the killing, you only get to Tier 1 infamy, so you can still talk to Eddie.

I also do that, leave the goodsprings quest until that happens. What talaby says is true too, I played it that way by accident once, I missed every target I was aiming, happens pretty often with me, it so frustrating, lol.

I snipe all the poweder gangers I come across, with a silenced weapon, that also avoids damaging the rep with the PG's, gotta be carful not be seen though. Once the prison is taken it's open season on the PG's, hehe. I really don't like the PG's for some reason.

Well, good to know for the second playthrough. Does anyone know how best to take out Eddie's bodyguards stealthily? I'm able to whittle them down to two, but those two include the guy who stands next to Eddie and the guy who sits on the couch. I know that this quest isn't vital or anything, but for some reason I have a strong urge to finish the quest. Who knows, maybe I just want to see that sherrif walk free :P

They sometimes get up and wander around. Also, you may try to rush in if you clear out everything but his office. The bodyguards take as much time to recognise you as Eddie does.

If you're good at sneaking and you have a silenced weapon, you can take out the guard next to Eddie from the room before you enter the office. You just kind of peek your view around the door frame from the far wall. The other guard on the couch I can usually shoot from the corner of Eddie's bathroom.

This is the way I like playing, I think I am going to try that next time, just for he hell of it.

Is the silenced .22 powerful enough to outright kill the guard next to Eddie with a headshot? I've tried, but I always need a second shot, which is enough to alert the other gangers. I've also tried going into Eddie's bathroom, but they start shooting before I get there. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it.

Unsure. I typically use a silenced varmint rifle. Also, like I said earlier I skip the Goodsprings quest and do the NCRCF quests first. That way the Powder Gangers aren't hostile - makes sneaking into that bathroom a lot easier!

Oh, I didn't realize that I could pick up a silencer for the varmit rifle in Goodsprings. That will come in handy.

Thanks for all of the help guys, although any suggestions on how to kill the guy on the couch are still appreciated.

One last thing, does the sherrif guy die in the NCR invasion, or does he live? Just curious.
talgaby Sep 2, 2014 @ 3:17am
The invasion only puts NCR forces in the courtyard and the admin building: all powder gangers in the lobby and the cell blocks remain untouched. And Meyers is set in a different faction too. There is a small possibility he can be killed, but that requires a huge number of strange coincidences. Also, if you speak with him about Primm and just open the possibility of him becoming sheriff, he'll instantly disappear and spawns in Primm. You don't have to actually get him the pardon to make him move.
