Question about companions

When the companions wear armor , does the armor wear off after time ?

Also, if companions use a certain inventory gun they have stashed, do they require ammo ?

Companions default armor doesn't degrade and their default weapons don't run out of ammo. When you give them a different weapon to use, you have to give them ammo for it.

If you go along the vanilla companions personal questline and complete them, I believe they all gain some major updates to weapons and armor. I know Raul changes to his Mexican Cowboy outfit (can't spell the right word) if you go that route, so I don't bother giving them armor or weapons after a while.

as ronr42 said, their default equipment does not degrade, but if you give them your own armor and weapon and they use it, they will degrade and you have to give them ammo, too

Are there any mods that remove all the default gear from compaions? Some of it is really ugly.

Not sure about gear degrading, but Companions Infinite Ammo-mod saves you a lot of higher-end ammo, especially if you give Boone the All-American like I do every replay, it's become a habit since he stole it the first time.

Go on nexus and type the name of each companion into the search panel. The results will be all the mods available for that companion, starting with the most downloaded mods.
