If you're using HDMI realize you are limited in framerate vs. DVI unless you're using 4K ready HDMI. Avoid using DVI -> HDMI adapters, that might cause you problems.
If the detection in the display is not working correctly, you can try force overriding that in Windows by using this tool: http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU
That tool will also allow you to potentially get 120Hz out of a 60Hz display (HD TVs internally process things at 120Hz to deal with motion blur) ... with some fiddling you might be able to get your TV to accept 120Hz source. Anyway good luck.
Was playing on ps3, but my ps is overheating and keeps freezing up, something I need to fix when i get the time, thought i'd get the pc version.. big mistake.
yeh i use hdmi cable direct from vid card to tv, also tried the vga cable connection but it tends to make mistakes in applying resolution from time to time, so i just stick with the hdmi.

And there is a category with the title controls.
For bugs, check out the mods in the stability/crashing pinned thead.
For the computers, you need to use the mouse and press the x/power off button on the in-game computer screens.
Periodically save the game, quit, reload to avoid freezing up.
EDIT: also clear out the exhaust fan area of the PS3 and make sure you have the PS3 located somewhere the hot air can escape. A lot of people wedge their PS3s into a cabinet and they get too hot because the exhausted hot air doesn't have anywhere to go.
Pretty much. The ports of 3, NV and Skyrim were generally considered pretty shoddy, with low res graphics, performance issues and a lot buggier in general. Remember the whole thing of trying to get the Skyrim DLC and patch the PS3 version? Sony themselves eventually stepped in to help. Not that the Skyrim DLC was really worth all that hassle, but that's a thread for another time.
It may not be the resolution, for I messed with the "windowed" box in the fallout start up menu settings which then led to my screen being shrunk...
