Sure, the issues aren't precisely the same when you're dealing with singleplayer games only, but the meat at the heart of the matter is this: Did you pay for what you want to play with? You won't find that the developers and publishers have a sympathetic ear when—for instance—they learn you're using a mod enabling you to use a weapon from DLC that you have not actually purchased.
How would they learn of something like this? By reading your posts is how, and they do. Not so much the publishers, but the developers. They need to know what's going on with the people playing their games, so they read forums like this, and many of them are even moderators.
Besides, a game this old? Why have you NOT bought all the CHEAP downloadable content? If that is a concern, can you afford a computer that runs these applications? Shortcuts breed more than one type of problem, and it can get hairy when said shortcuts attempt to go around the law.
