Easiest way to get into New Vegas?

I can't pass through the North Gate into New Vegas. Any helpful suggestions? (I spent all my caps on 10mm rounds so I'm currently broke)

It will disable achievements for your current game session[close game and restart it to enable achievements] but, the easiest way is to open the console[~] and give yourself more caps.

Other than that, sell weapons and other items you loot then go to Mick and Ralphs[store] in Freeside and buy a pass into the Strip for 500 caps.

You mean getting money? Play caravan, play in the two casinos outside Vegas, kill Fiends for their equipment and sell it, befriend the Legion and farm their secret cache near Cottonwood, go through Old World Blues… money, when you get the basics of the game down, is not an issue, you can be an actual millionaire.

Caps are very easy to come by. The best way to earn them is normally via trading equipment that you loot off others. There are various jobs that you can take for the Garret twins in the Atomic Wrangler casino, and the Kings as well.

You'll be better off getting into New Vegas just by making the 2000 caps. No wasting favours, no wasting 500 caps, and you'll get to learn more about Freeside as you're making your money back.

If you've got good enough luck (or are just really patient about reloading and waiting for the resets) you can also bankrupt that casino in Freeside.

If you avoid fighting, it's possible to get into the Strip at level 1 - for free - using this method. No cheating required. Can be done at any point in the game.

Right at the start, after leaving Goodsprings, head for Jean Skydiving then onto the railway line. Head for Nipton and lift a set of NCR armour from one of the dead NCR troopers in one of the buildings (Nipton Hotel). Don't put it on yet.

Head out of Nipton towards Novac but sneak past the Viper ambush (just north of Nipton) by travelling along the high ground west of the road (there are Vipers on the high ground but they can be avoided). Go back onto the road after bypassing the ambush. Follow the road towards Novac. After Novac, cross the ground near Gibson Scrapyard and go east onto Highway 95. Watch out for the Cazadores east of the scrapyard.

Head for Camp McCarran and put on the NCR armour just before you enter the camp. Wearing NCR armour will permit you to ride the monorail into New Vegas and you're in. At level 1 or 2.
